I couldn't agree more!Thumbs Up

Dream Theatre indeed sound the same on every album - must be a strategy to maintain hold on their intellectually challenged fanbase. Most of their fans can't even spell

Trick Of The Tail and Wind and Wuthering - I think you're quite right on this one.

Foxtrot and Nursery Cryme - Ditto.

Signals and Moving Pictures - This is what a lot of people say, but I don't really agree. MP sounds much more distinctive and varied than Signals.

The Wall and Final Cut - Lyrically they may be rather similar, but "The Wall" is far better musically.

Relayer and Tales From Topographic Oceans - No way. Relayer is far harder.

I slightly disagree with ITCOTCK and ITWOP. Sure, "Picture" and the title track sound exactly the same as "21st Century" and "Epitaph" (though I prefer the two former ones), and "Cadence" and "I Talk to the Wind" are close enough, but none of the other ones sound at all like anything on ITCOTCK, including the "Peace" ones. Maybe if the track order was different people wouldn't complain so much.

And I'd say there's really no musical change from "The Yes Album" up until "Tales"

(time to run away)

I read most of the posts on this thread and I'm suprised I haven't seen Yes
Big Generator and 90125 compared. They sound pretty similar with the
production and style. It's almost like Big Generator is an extension of 90125.

However, I do love both albums a lot!

...and all Tool sounds the same.

Not exact, but Grace Under Pressure and Power Windows sound very similar.

I disagree with those two, but rush can sound similar: A Caress of Steel and 2112 is closer than those two as well as Counterparts and Hold Your Fire

I agree with GUP and PW; Caress and 2112 but I disagree with Counterparts and HYF...
