He's just ridiculously stupid, I saw a full 1970's AC/DC concert on TV once, and the whole time he was partially hunched over doing a stupid half ass headbang, and making the ugliest face I've ever seen. A couple months later I saw another AC/DC concert on TV, but this time it was in present times, and he was doing the same stupid thing.
You know if he actually played descent guitar, or tried something a little more original/complex, I wouldnt bash him. But he's a pompous idiot, making some of the worst music to ever be played, and people love him for it... and thats gross.

The Habs had a great regular season this year. Hopefully, that is a sign of good things to come. 20 years ago when we were still in the same division I might not have said that, but the rivalry between the two teams just isn't what it used to be.
As far as Diamond Dave goes, he just had one of the biggest egos in rock, and you have to love the spandex with the holes for his butt cheeks to hang out. Not to mention his going on to host a radio show where he tried to compete with Howard Stern. Not to mention that he broke up Van Halen at what might have been considered their commercial peak with 1984 (yes, I know its not a favorite on PA, but it was a very successful album). And of course, every few years the band is reunites with DLR, and then they breakup before anything actually happens. Although this year they actually did tour, although without Michael Anthony.

I like him because he's played a good amount of simple kick ass riffs and solos . He plays guitar and loves to play it. There's nothing stupid about that. I'm pretty sure thats why plenty of people dig his stuff. I wouldn't say he is the best guitarist by any means, but I wouldn't say a lot of Prog guys are either. Anyways I vote Axl because he's a dick, a terrible singer. If Prince was an option I'd vote for him. Obviously.

As a woman, I find Gene Simmons particularly obnoxious. Not only does he seem interested only in making as much money as he can (something I don't find particularly attractive in a person), but it also seems much of his boasting about having slept with a ridiculous amount of women is... well, nothing more than that. Needless to say, I don't have a very high opinion of people who do that.

Ah, I see where you're going wrong here - I think that's what's known as a stage persona; I hear tell that off stage, he's actually completely different, can sometimes go a full day without 'half-ass headbanging' & doesn't even wear his school uniform
So not quite sure where you get "stupid" or "overblown caveman" from there...
Perhaps you were thinking of this gentleman:
Although I love his music, I cannot believe he wasn't included in the above list of obnoxious rock stars...

From the list, I'm gunna have to go with Lars. He's the one I'm most familiar with off that list. He could not even play the double bass drums on the song Dyers Eve, which is just pathetic, as much as I like that song too. Massively overrated, sure not the worst drummer ever, but was never up to the par with any of Megadeth's drummers. As with many hardcore fans of the 80s Metallica sound, I always thought he should have been the one that was sitting where Cliff Burton was that dark fateful night.

I'm sorry you've seemed to have left off of your list one Steven Tyler. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting that asshole in 1976 when I was concert chairman at my college. Aerosmith was the opening act and that son-of-a-bitch was drunk when he hit the stage for their sound check. He proceeded to shakeup a can of beer and cover me from head to toe in beer foam. The legend of Aerosmith nearly ended that day because I was going to rip his lungs out thru his eye sockets. A couple of my associates whisked me out of the arena and things got back to normal.
| My friend got fired from Sweetwater for making a shipping mistake which resulted in Aerosmith getting their gear 1 day late. Steven Tyler requested he be fired.

I hate Steven Tyler even more now Seriously, that is a load of crap, getting fired because of that, but I think Sweet**ter should have had a bit more heart too and told Tyler to shove it.

I would have expected Ozzy Osbourne to be on the list. biting off the head of a pigeon in front of a running camera can hardly be topped for being "obnoxious"

It could be put down to mental illness, rather than being obnoxious. He's never been the most stable of people.
I'd like to vote for both Axl Rose, (I cant stand that man) and Gene Simmons. Even as a 12 year old Kiss fan, I thought he was a complete d!ck. Recent TV appearences have merely confirmed this belief. Ace Frehley was the best in Kiss..

Besides the fact that he's an all around terrible drummer, this guy is obviously the biggest douchecannon in rock.
He honestly believes that even if you pay for his music, you shouldn't be allowed to do what you want with it. Bought the CD? great! want to listen to it on your mp3 player? you have to buy it again! no copying of your own music! take that video off youtube! dont you know no one is paying to see it??? we're going to starve!
Some bands (i.e. NIN, Radiohead) have realized that being famous means you can make tons of money by essentially giving away the music for free. Metallica thinks you should have to pay for every metallica experience, no matter how insignificant. The arrogance astounds me.
It's certainly one thing to expect to get paid for the work you put into your music, but Lars goes out of his way to show that he's really only in it for the money. A song isn't an emotional release, it's a business investment.
Honorable mention for Axl Rose, too. I think Dave Grohl summed up my feelings for Axl quite nicely when he said something like, "You know Axl Rose took a gypsy fortune teller on tour with GnR... I wonder if she ever told him he'd be a total d**k the rest of his life, or if she felt obligated to tell him nice things?"

I'd like to back up Jim Garten's Ted Nuegent recommendation. Along with his faked videos about bow and arrow hunting, he uses the stage to go on about US citizens who can't speak English.
I read that Art Garfunkel once stopped a show and kicked a woman off stage who was doing sign language for deaf people.
Regarding Jammun's reference to patient rock stars, when I was much younger I bugged the crap out of Fripp at a record signing, he waited a good 20 minutes or so before he finally got a chance to put in a well timed put-down in front of all that were there. It was very embarassing.

You are always so AB Positive! Homeland security is now actively searching for lollypops as weapons of "mass" destruction (rock concerts are like arena religious gatherings!) and insuring the safety of stage performers evrywhere from the aftereffects of sticky adhesions to the eyelid area. Humor remains the greatest thrill .
