Progressive Biography

Born in Hungary arrived in Canada at age of 1.5 , speak 7 languages fluently (English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Hungarian and Portuguese) with sprinklings of a few others. My first rock concerts were Omega in Budapest 1969 and Tim Buckley/Curtis Mayfield and Frank Zappa in Montreal 1970, my first albums : Beatles obviously, Steppenwolf, debut Santana, Traffic (JBMD). I got into prog in its glory days and witnessed all the greats live (Genesis twice, Ekseption, Gentle Giant, UK, Soft Machine, Hawkwind, Maneige,Yes, KC, Focus, Return to Forever, JL Ponty, Tull twice, Gabriel twice, Saga, Led Zeppelin (wow!) Santana twice, plus many other non-prog acts. Recently, Fish, PFM, IQ, Flower Kings, PTree. Obviously, I have a huge collection with LP, Cassette and Cds (in the 2000 range) 90%prog (available via e-mail request) and a top 50 + (as an attachment). In view of my review selections, it may seem that I prefer the symph/Italian/neo style to the more complex techie stuff, its just that I feel medicated by some of the mellower melancholic material, as I , just like prog, am going through a renaissance of sorts being newly single! Since prog has saved my sorry ass so many times, giving me hope, energy and resolve when in the deepest abyss of despair, I consider this style of music as the most important facet of my life, next to my kids , my addiction to Prog is paramount and not having to listen to Kenny Rogers, Conway Twitty (the name says it all) or Celine" the shrill Shrew" Dion. is a blessing. I consistently give much higher ratings to everything I choose to review because I lived through the glory days , saw the punk-led, Lester Bangs fueled assassination of Prog in 1977 and frankly thought that the genre would disappear completely. Faith! in 1992, I found the scene back in action and as we can see , its thriving! Hence, I am not critic, I am a salivating fan .
My top 15 all-time, mostly for personal reasons:

1- In the Court ... -KC
2- Hero & Heroine -The Strawbs
3- Thick as a... -Tull
4- Selling England -Genesis
5- Close to the Edge -Yes
6- Hamburger Concerto -Focus
7- Dark Side... -Floyd
8- Photos of Ghosts -PFM

11- Wings of Love -Nova
12- Nei Gorghi del Tempo- CAP
13- Warrior on the Edge...-Hawkwind
