I've been getting into Toto lately and they're great so voted for them, a couple of years ago maybe I would have voted for DT but the only album by them I really really like and often listen to is Scenes from the memory. I've only heard 4 albums by Toto though, the first one, Hydra, IV and Falling in between. I especially liked IV and the last one (any other recommended album?).
I've found out a couple of days ago that they split up last year, it's a shame, I was already expecting the follow up to Falling in between. |

Or maybe the Toto album "Thriller". Many songs have been played on the radio from that lately.

Are you familiar with Toto's soundtrack for Dune? Perhaps you'd like this:

Ah those hits. ![]() Well certainly there's sooo much more to Toto than their hits. Well my personal favorite from them are the albums Fahrenheit, Kingdom of Desire and Tambu. As for the songs, I dare you to check these YouTube vids: ![]() Kingdom of Desire Jake To The Bone Dave's Gone Skiing I Will Remember These Chains That's all I can think of for now. My favorites from them though I won't mind if you still don't like them after viewing those stuffs I posted. ![]() Check out their last album called Falling In Between. Lots of good tracks there. Specially this one: Bottom of Your Soul Featuring the great Leland Sklar on bass. I won't forget when they did that song during their concert here in the Philippines. Amazing!!!!!! Cheers! i have a Question about the track Fahrenheit on the album with the same title, the drum pattern in the verse i have scratched my hair in trying to figure out if it is actualy Jeff Porcaro dissplaying his singlefoot bassdrum technice ore a drum machine (i Hope not) since yoe are a drummer you probably have wonderd about the same |

its 2 or 3 ways to look at Totos carear one is from 1977 - 1992 wich i call the Jeff Porcaro period, and from 1992 - 1995 Lukather era and 1999 - 2008 the Porg period
or from 1977 - 1982 the classic era - 1982 - 1995 experimental or finding there sound era 1999 - 2008 the new and fresh era (as i will call them) they have 12 studioalbums from 1978 - 2006: Toto (1978), Hydra (1979), Turn Back (1981), Toto V (1992), Isolation (1984), Fahrenheit (1986), The Seventh One (1988), Kingdom of Desire (1993) (Jeff Porcaro era), Tambu (1995), Mindfields (1999), True the Looking Glass (cover album 2002) and Falling in Between (2006) (SImon Phillips era) |

I haven't heard much, that is very true. Did they do Africa? I think hearing that was enough to put me off forever, but what do you recommend? Just did a Wiki check. Hold the Line.....hate that too.

That's kind of sad Snowie. What songs have you heard from them? Just curious.
![]() As much as I ADORE both bands, as of this moment, I think I'll choose Toto. Being a guitarist and a drummer myself, Jeff Porcaro and Steve Lukather inspired me to get better as a musician. Edited by JayDee - July 08 2009 at 07:46 |
