LOL

I at first thought this was a little bit of trolling. Then I realised it is the completely sincere ramblings of the typical Prog Elitist.

And i'm not saying that to defend Rush. Hate them or not it doesn't matter. Prog Elitists are both annoying and hilarious though. Living under the illusion that they are more open minded and musically intelligent than everybody they've ever met. lol

La Villa Strangiato, no bargain.

Sorry, but I could never understand the popularity of these guys, and Geddy Lee's singing is ridiculous.

And again, I have a huge library of music of all types, and very eclectic taste. I just don't like Rush. Period.

You don't need to like Rush, and Geddy's voice certainly takes some getting used to, but you should at least recognise that they are great musicians. I love them but even if I did not, I guess I would still hold a lot of respect for them.

I have been LMFAO for the past 5 miniutes.......I cannot compose myself enough to write a reply.......but really I don't think a reply is justified, other than I wish I was intelligent enough to come up with these kinds of posts.

he say.... "Prog Elitists are both annoying and hilarious though."

And in what category would you place yourself?  A true aficionado of all things worthy, no doubt.

Fact is, there is a considerable amount of noise in the world made that passes for music, enjoyed thoroughly by some sub species of listener, somewhere.

I reserve my right to discriminate between that which appeals and that which offends.

If that makes me an elitist, well......LOL

If you started hearing their stuff after about the age of 25 or so, you'll probably never be a fan as they are very much a young person's gateway drug to progrock - or even just quality rock - and hold a lot of nostalgia for a whole bunch of people.  They're also an amazing trio that could play circles around 90% of bands, and truly did have some unimpeachable masterworks in Hemispheres, Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures.

We all do that.. it's called personal preference.

The difference is you appear to believe you are objectively right in your opinions as opposed to just  enjoying/appreciating some music and not other 'noises' as you call them.

So then , its 'all good'

 hmmmm, how refreshing.

guess all movies are good too.

 all books, good.

no need for criticism, just a matter  of taste it is?

ok, nothing to see here, it was all a mistake.

Just listened  to the tracks from Moving Pictures on Spotify.

is that's a masterwork , then Obama is the finest president the country has ever seen.

I just want the helium concession when Lee performs.

@ ProcolWho?...really your best bet is just to drop it, your not winning any friends here right now especially as a newbie of 4yrs? Its cool that people just visit but don't post...but when you do post it should be something reasonable.

Hate threads are not looked favorably here, but I guess you could start a "hate Rush" thread and see if others join your opinion.

Have a great evening!

by all means criticise..
but taste is a large part of it.

I've yet to read an objective criticism of their music from you.

I missed this.

I would place myself in the category of "Music Lover"

I'm done with silly juvenile "MY TASTE IS BETTER THAN YOURS" arguments. Nobodys taste is better. It's just music. Perceive it however you wish.

Perhaps you should spend your time discovering more music that you love. Rather than dwelling on the music that you hate.
