In my previous post I  forget to mention that NYC's awesome avant-prog band Reconnaissance Fly http://reconnaissancefly.com/

They said that their debut (I presume it will be full lenght) album is out in January: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=95623

I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I that a guess Richard? I haven't seen any mentions of this.
If Steve releases something in 2014, besides all of his little projects, I hope it'll be a new Porcupine albumBig smile

http://stevenwilsonhq.com/sw/end-of-tour-update-by-steven-wilson/

SW has already written 2 new songs and tried them out during touring (which I haven't heard yet sadly). One is called "Happy Returns" which is one of those emotive-ballads he always has on his albums. The other is an untitled 15 min epic which apparently sounds modern, very dark (from start to finish) and completely different from that found on The Raven.

I've heard some of the new material but can't remember whether I was that impressed or not. I assume there will be a new album. During the show I saw at Bristol Steven made a crack about bands that only record one album every 5 years. ''When did that become okay?'' and he suggested that one release per year should be the norm not the exception. Hence why I'm hoping for a new album in 2014Wink

It's supposed to be even more mellow than the last one. 1st single sounds good, though.

I'm also looking forward to new stuff from Yes, Mike Oldfield and Opeth (but I have low expectations on all of them despite being a huge fan of those 3), Alcest, Phideaux, iamthemorning, Cynic and Transatlantic. 2012 and 2013 have been good years so lets see what happens...

So... it seems no one cares about Yes anymore. I understand they are suposed to release their new album next year. I try not to get my hopes too high, but it might just as well come out good. I guess it depends on how big will be John Davison's involvement on the writing process, and how good he ends up being as a writer. I believe the rest of the band are spent forces on creating a new masterpiece, but who knows about Davison?

Looking forward to:
 Phideaux's Infernal,
Crippled Black Phoenix's White Noise Generator
Anubis' Hitchhiking to Byzantium

I'm not aware of any other awesome albums that are due to be released in 2014 - But wasn't Phideaux's Infernal supposed to be released this year? Confused
