^ Zappa is arguably more 'eclectic prog'.
I'll actually be honest and vote krautrock, rather than make sure avant is out (it clearly is). Avant is much better though.

Symphonic is the most liked, but that doesn't mean it's the "least hated". If people voting it were honest though they'd probably vote RPI first.

After some thinking. I'll now vote for Krautrock.

Aw c'mon - RIO has ZAPPA - no-one in their right mind can jettison Uncle Frank..........
..........Zappa should be an entire separate sub-genre in/of itself..........

From what it looks like now, it probably won't.

Btw whereas RPI is entirely made up of Italian artists (please, anybody, correct me if I'm wrong), you'll find loads of acts in Krautrock spanning from places as different as Japan, France, The States, Italy and the list literally goes on and on. Back when the expression was coined it largely dealt with German acts exclusively - including bands like Jane, Birth Control, Pell Mell, Adonis' Daughter (???) and lots of other acts that we here on PA have placed in other subs. Krautrock, at least on this site, is more about the 'experimental' vibes, improvisation, motorik grooves and that ever so fleeting feel of |
It's Anyone's Daughter. Their debut album was named Adonis. Great piece of record btw.

Haven't voted even once from the beginning, my friend! I hold no dislike of any of the prog sub-genres, but these polls have seen some pretty repulsive character traits emerge!
Besides, I don't see the point. So once a week about 10 people get to feel smug about themselves?! Same goes for the final round I guess, too. | The repulsive character traits are the best thing. I inquired as to the point of this - apparently this is to encourage music consumption. Don't actually see how. It is mildly amusing to see Symphonic prog rock targeted as, without the usual suspects, ELP, Yes, Genesis et al, there would be nothing prog rock. But only mildly.I would rather encourage all music creation no matter the meta-genre, genre, sub genre, sub -sub genre etc, usw. |
Amen, brother, from this Brother! Go sing it from the mountain!
I, too, feel there's frequently a little bit of `selective musical history' going on here, that makes me more likely to NOT want to explore further other genres of progressive music because of the attitude of some. A shame, because if they were a little more tolerant and less dismissive, I'd take their opinions more seriously.
Oh, great, now thats bringing out the bad character traits in me!
Just enjoy all progressive music, people, without the hang-ups!
