Ive been waiting Endgame for a year and the conclusion of the Saga, and im finiched with it. Saw it yesterday. But on the trailer of Captain Marvel i saw the trailer of Detective Pikachu, previous i had obly seen posters and did not get why that was abou, being a Pokémon expert, the trailer sold it to me, it almost toppled my exietment for Thanos Saga. Endgame was absolutly brilliant though. It delivered so much content and managed to conclude all the various threads thst had been spun out. Star Wars conclutkon have been awaited ror 40 years so that is alot of hype/nerves and sweating. But seriously i look so forward to Detective Pikachu, its aint even a joke.

I can't say I am longing for any of them but The Avengers interests me more than Star Bores.

I sometimes like to explain /clarify, that my taste and urge in musical taste, does not automaticly reflect over in my taste and urge regarding film. I have a tast and urge, an investive interest in exploring art rock, prog rock, i have an interest in music beyond pop music, that drives my music taste. My taste in movies are, i respect art house movies, work at scielent movie festivals, but my taste in movies navigates more towards CGI-development, Motion capture tech and new blockbusting movie development. I ask more questions like "How will they capture the scope of Jack Kirbys New Gods in a movie series or tv series format?" than wierd camara angels and underground movies.

but im not alien to it or dismissive and i imagine thst superhero movies could absorb and have impulses from art house movies. which has happend. a good excample is the series Legion.

I like to destinguish that taste in art rock in my case does not reflect into urge for art movie/ indipendent movies. Though i can get myself to explore it more, but it aint a driving force.

Hi,

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

I'll make sure and miss those!

Not sure I have seen a single "blockbuster" that was ever more interesting than the amount of money and fame it got!

Maybe Lawrence of Arabia or Dr. Zhivago ... but even the original Star Wars was not half as good without a speaker under your bum in the theater! Now that was an experience, for which you REALLY had to have that intermission!

Far as I can tell Avengers is the winner this year but Star Wars isn't until December and by then who knows.  I will say SW looks potentially disappointing based on the very brief trailer that reveals, well, nothing, and it is Last Jedi canonized so I don't expect to love it.

Poke a man?   That seems cruel and unnecessary.

Hi,

BTW, should it not be "anticipated" instead?

I automatically kept thinking of some kind of prequel to every thing!

I don't really want to see any of them, but my son wants to see Avengers: Endgame, so I might go see it quite soon in the cinema.

I haven't been big on comic books, and superhero type stuff generally, but I have got more into it as there have been various based-on graphic novel/ comic films and television/ streaming shows that I have enjoyed very much. I just finished watching season one of the TV show Titans on Netflix, which I certainly enjoyed.

As for Star Wars, the last one that I really enjoyed was The Empire Strikes Back when as a child I saw it in the cinema in 1980 (seen the first four when they came out -- I found the Phantom Menace so boring, but then I really was very heavily into "art house" films at that time).

As for Pokémon, I enjoyed watching the cartoons with my kids, and maybe I'll see Detective Pikachu with my son if he wants to go.

One that I guess rather fits with this list that I'd quite like to see is Alita: Battle Angel (which is now in second run theaters, though I don't think it will be very good) and High Life is a horror science fiction one that I'd quite like to see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtOwfo1ypOw and is currently still showing in Vancouver (Juliette Binoche is in it).
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

...

As a son of a WW2 veteran in Portugal, (mom and him refused to talk about it! But, they had some serious stories!), all the "fun" stuff that America had, on radio and then TV in those days. Europe did not have as much, because there was too much happening on the other side of the equation. Thus, I ended up growing to see/like the stories that were amazing, the victories over the great bad bwana (so to speak), and never really fell for the cardboard reality of Hollywood, though one of the films that got me inspired was "The Ten Commandments" and that was because in Brazil they had a booklet and you bought bubblegum cards that gave you the film in pictures. When I finally saw the movie, I wanted to fall asleep so bad!

But at 16, the most important part of things in America was learning English and the only thing that was helping was the run of foreign films, in French, Italian and Spanish ... even though it became quite obvious (Bunuel) that the subtitles were the worst ever! But the idea was close enough to understand something, although not always complete.

Thus, in my life, the "top ten" and the "hits" and the "blockbusters" has never been of a lot of value ... they have never inspired me to anything, and to this day I still won't see Avatar and many other films (this one ripped off Roger Dean!), and I'm not a fan of cardboard copies for Hollywood's sakes ... which is what many of these films are!

What I don't understand is how people think that these are "entertaining" ... with a story that is the worst written thing I could possible see in literature ... I guess Avengers is more interesting than the original Frankenstein the book ... although the issue there might even be said ... yeah ... it was written by a woman, and that's why guys don't like it! It messes up their image!

Where's the 'other' option?

A remake of Asimov's _Nightfall_, done really well.  Doesn't need to be big budget, could even be a BBC miniseries, but that story deserves a better treatment than the abysmal 1988 effort.

Beyond that, more Discworld productions would be grand.

But Star Wars?  The track record hasn't been good and to expect anything even approaching _Empire_, this late in the game after sooooo many lackluster installments, equates to anything but anticipation.

There's a ninth Star Wars on the way? Last one I saw featured Jar Jar Binks and hardly qualified as an actual movie. Can't say I know anything about those other sequel-movies really. Looking at the titels alone reminds me of all those samey posters at the Cinema for 3D-movies that obviously have a great appeal to the majority of moviegoers. Not to me though.
