Thanks for explaining those lyrics CrazyDiamond. The lyrics seem to be
as beautiful as the song itself. It's my favourite love song as well.

Time heals - Peter Hammil from the album Over. A song about one loving his friend's girl friend but understanding she will never leave his friend so all he can do is to hope that ... time heals.

mmhhh... how about The Musical Box? it's twisted and wicked,
especially if you read Gabriel's accompanying story, yet it's a love
song
"You stand there with your fixed expression
Casting doubts on all I have to say
Why don't you touch me, touch me
Touch me
Now now now now NOW!"

"You" from Tony Banks, from the album A Curious Feeling.
Most funny love song: "You yes yes yes you" from The Residents. The whole song goes like: "Youououou yes yes yes yes yes yes yes youououou": the essence of a love song

"Been Alone So Long" by Peter Hammill, though it is not exactly a love song. It is a song about someone who doesn't know how to find any. If that doesn't count, then "This Side of the Looking Glass", also by Peter Hammill.

Acquaintance by Enchant.
I did not suspect - that we would not connect - and end up strangers
I could dance with you all night - make love by candlelight we could talk and talk but it's all in spite cause you'll never be my friend I could walk with you through the rain - we could share each other's pain We could do all this but it's all in vain cause you'll never be my friend

Dream Theater - "Through her Eyes"
She never really had a chance On that fateful moonlit night Sacrificed without a fight A victim of her circumstance
Now that I’ve become aware And I’ve exposed this tragedy A sadness grows inside of me It all seems so unfair
I’m learning all about my life By looking through her eyes
Just beyond the churchyard gates Where the grass is overgrown I saw the writing on her stone I felt like I would suffocate
Inloving memory of our child So innocent, eyes open wide I felt so empty as I cried Like part of me had died
I’m learning all about my life By looking through her eyes
And as her image Wandered through my head I wept just like a baby As I lay awake in bed
And I know what it’s like To lose someone you love And this felt just the same
She wasn’t given any choice Desperation stole her voice I’ve been given so much more in life I’ve got a son, I’ve got a wife
I had to suffer one last time To grieve for her and say goodbye Relive the anguish of my past To find out who I was at last
The door has opened wide I’m turning with the tide Looking through her eyes

I don't know this one but the best instrumental love song would be "After the ordeal" (Genesis, Selling England by the pound) to me ! "And you and I" is also my favourite with lyrics.

i would agree with Banco - 750.000 Anni...
tough since now i could never understand the lyrics - thank you !
also Tempano - Anhelos
the cd-version countains a translation and the lyrics are absolutely
beautiful. but this song is probably not real prog - it's just lightens
the mood between all the complex structured songs on Atabal-Yemal.

Nektar - Always:
Making the move
No time to prophecise
The secret is out
It's not right
We're breathless and out of time
The choice is ours
To stay or go for always
Always
In your eyes I will look
To see where it all began
Was it you who really helped
The life of a frightened child?
Now I could go
But could you stay, always?
I could go
But could you stay, for always?
Always
Ever
Why must this be forever?
Tell me now
Ever
That sounds so long and so forever
Never
All that I hear is never
Tell me now
If there's a heaven
Why can't it be there inside you?
(The secret is out
Time's running short
To stay or to go
The choice is still yours
All that I hear
Is what could have been
It's now up to you
To change how you feel)
