Great review Steve, I'm pleased you enjoyed their music. It's interesting that you describe them as 'heavier' in their execution than Magnum and others.. the problem for WiE is that they have often played alongside female fronted metal bands, but they tend to be far softer and melodic than most, to the extent that they've always been a bit of a round peg. Court of Conscience was their most polished offering, but it was also their lightest, to the degree that there was practically no metal in evidence, but neither are they proggy enough to appeal to Magenta fans...

Yes, I think I described them as “symphonic metal”, not in order to start a new sub-genre, but as a descriptor. I think personally they should be on PA and wonder whether they have ever been suggested? Anyhow, it is an album which I think will appeal to all decent prog rock fans, and hopefully my review will bring them some attention.

I'll pass on your considerations when she gets home tomorrow afternoon.. Thumbs Up

incidentally, I wonder whether this had been brought to your attention:

Thanks for this Jared. Yes, I had seen this. We have been to Acapela a couple of times. It is a really good venue. The difficulty we have is arranging care for my mother in law, and this is why we go to so few gigs these days, but I highly recommend anybody who can to get themselves over and support a wonderful venue and set of people.

I love me some Judie Tzuke. Saw her and her amazing band live at the King's Theatre Glasgow in May 1982. Great show. The Sportscar album's title track is fully fledged jazz rock in my book. I think her daughter is also a professional singer?

Thanks Steve. Sue likes Winter In Eden... I think the 'new' album has only been 8 years in the making! I remember taking her to see them in Brum back in 2016, when they played a couple of tracks from their forthcoming album... this must be it, then!

Review of new albums by Moon Halo and Knight Area uploaded to Album Reviews of 2022 Page.

Moon Halo are, for some rather inexplicable reason, not on Prog Archives. It is a project by Marc Atkinson of Riversea and Iain Jennings of Mostly Autumn, and features guests from those bands and the wonderful Anne-Marie Helder. It is a sublime album, so please enjoy the review and go and get it.

By the way, I have been asked by a couple of friends whether I receive any endorsements, or fees, or any form of reward on my website. The answer is no. It is a labour of love. It is simply for mine and others to enjoy independent from adverts or any form of "reward". Where I have been provided with a cd to review, I make this clear as I always did on PA. In fact, I have not received any samples in 2022 thus far.

There is also a new restaurant review on the Beer & News Page.

Plus, a wonderful Video Of The Week on the front page. It is Judie Tzuke's Bully, one of the finest pieces of music ever recorded.

Enjoy Smile

Thanks Steve. Yes, he is a genius, and that album is fantastic. Keep looking for potentially some more stuff from him shortly.
Good news! I've been going back to earlier works on Youtube, and reading various blogs and websites regarding Mr. Thielen. You've got me hooked, Steve, so thanks for that!

Well, hopefully I will also have you and others hooked on a band who are not on PA when I post a couple of reviews later on this evening. In the meantime, though, I am glad you like t. He really is something special and I can’t see anything beating Pareidoliving for number one of 2022.

I love his music, which I came to via his Anti-Matter Poetry album. I’ve bought every album since, plus those that came before, and also his Clouds Can album (where he was one of a two man band).

He seems to get better with every album, which seems an impossible feat, as every time I think he can’t possibly beat the previous one. 😄

Yes, I have been listening to him a lot lately. Really strong stuff.

Top Ten Albums of 2014 added to Top Ten Albums By Year page, a damned fine year actually.

Photo of Beltain Festival added to News Page.

I am hoping to have an exciting and interesting exclusive interview posted in the forthcoming days. Details to follow.

Not to get too political, when I was a misguided youth who thought that socialism would save the world, nothing made me feel better than being addressed as comrade. Now I cringe upon reflection. OK, back to the beer and ale!
