How 'bout some Italian prog-metal to get the weekend juices flowing? Band is S91.

A bit of lovely piano melody from Cooperative Del Latte in 2023, the same guys who did "Il Risveglio" in the 90s.

it does not help that there's no biography with the suggestion, probably that's why it's been ignored.

I haven't heard of that, but I will give it a whirl sometime. Hopefully they'll get added.

It is good to "see you" again, Andrea! I hope you are doing well.

Another cool album I'm digging from a few years back....their two most recent albums are not exactly old school RPI, but they are insanely catchy.

Hey Jim!!
Wow....the AENewman avatar I do remember!  LOL
I wanted to write some reviews again just to see if I could remember how, and that led me to some cool stuff I hadn't heard before and it snowballed a bit. I had no plans to come back to the forums initially, but I dipped a toe here too. The RPI movement is a siren song for sure. I didn't play any for literally years and yet the the love comes right back. We'll see if it lasts.
But I'm still alive....some days, I feel pretty rough, but Lord willin', I'll get a few more miles down the road.

Cheers, bro.  You're in the southeast, if I recall?

Jim!!! So happy to see you here!
I have not been on in quite a while, but still check the forum out now and then and saw your post and had to reply!

I had a RPI weekend a few months back with Panna Freda, Campo di Marte, Semiramis, and a few of the big hitters, PFM, Le Orme, etc.

Will need to revisit Apoteosi again, it has been awhile.

Again, so good to see ya here, hope all is well!

Apoteosi in 1971, a few years before their official formation to make the album. They definitely started young!

Yep, agreed. The production is a tad strange, and "dry" is a good descriptor. It sure was fun to hear again.

I really need to find my Metamorfosi and QVL again! It's been a long time.

Apoteosi to me is another case of a 'diamond in the rough'. Their compositions are beautifully crafted, and you can hear that the performers, though still young, had serious chops. Yet, the album's finesse is sometimes a bit overshadowed by this sorta dry and unrefined feel to the recording and production.

Today I revisited an old friend from the RPI glory days, a lesser-acclaimed one-off called Apoteosi. Many don't like this album, but I do. The context that should be understood is that this was not a professional and experienced touring band but rather a group of siblings who happened to be teenagers at the time they made their personal family opus. They could play well for sure, but they were no PFM. I love albums made by youth and by folks who weren't necessarily professionals. If you come at it with expectations in check, you may enjoy it. It does tend to meander, a frequent charge against it, but I love a little meandering if I'm enjoying the mood.

A bit more chill is this lovely number from Capside, a band from Sardinia...

Relatively new to Appreciation of Italian prog. But thanks to this thread, I’m finding a vast range of bands albums...

Spectacular!

First couple of listens my brain had to adjust to the vocals because they're incredible.

I think the title track has my favorite vocal lines and melodies; it all rules, though! I have them all stuck in my head and I have absolutely no idea if I'm even pronouncing or saying the correct words; THAT'S the power of music right there!

I felt like I could viscerally understand the meaning of the songs despite my extremely poor Italian, lol. Truly wonderful vocalist.
Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)

I got all 4 The Rome Pro(g)ject albums and I am speechless.
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.
