Here's a new feature: Release Polls for tags! As mentioned in the other thread about the top 20 concept albums, here's the poll:

https://awesomeprog.com/release-polls/pa/custom-t:concept/vote

Hint: In order to get your own favorite concept albums to appear in the poll you might need to tag them as concept albums first (if nobody has already done that). But there are already almost 1000 in the database.

So how do you tag something as a concept album?

Llistened to the remastered and remixed version of The Human Equation yesterday. Enjoyed it but was never the biggest fan only because my brain isn't big enough. Certainly a massive chunk of creativity, kind of Frank Zappa for the prog metal age

Put The Source on repeat, I think it's his most accessible release. My favorite is Y, but only by a very narrow margin

How is Arjen the Frank Zappa of progressive metal?! In no way he comes close to the genius of Zappa.
Arjen's always played it safe, applied the same formula, but his fans seem to like that.

This is definitely a bit 'Is this the rooom for an argument' Monty Python sketch. ''You are just disagreeing with me , that's not an argument'' reply ''Yes it is'' , back again ''No it isn't'' etc etc. Or maybe The Moon landing didn't happen go prove otherwise. I can only hear what I hear, I don't hear anytging that is safe or formulaic. I need to get out more obviously

I get it, no problem, but to me, he's applying a formula over and over, that's become rather predictable.

Musically? Maybe. You could also say that he has perfected his style, which is very recognizable. As an entrepreneur he has taken huge risks, hiring dozens of vocalists, bringing elaborate space/prog operas to the scene and of course, risking to be criticised for a lack of innovation.
