Well prog's supposed to be all about ambition and daring to dream isn't it?Wink And even if the music failed to match up to the heady heights of 1969 there's always the possibility of an on-stage punch-up between Robert Fripp and Greg Lake!
"And now...on the drums...Mick Underwooooooooood!!!"

Heart ... or just any time

It goes without saying I'd love to see Pink Floyd again, but that's not going to happen now.

I count myself pretty fortunate in having seen most of my favourite artists either at their peak, or just before they hit the big-time. Last thing I want to endure is some band on their "greatest hits" tour.

Of the "old-timers" that I failed to see that I wish I'd seen:
  1. Curved Air (I have seen Sonja solo, Jobson with Roxy, Copeland with Da Police and Monkman with Sky - never seen Daryl Way play live which is a shame)
  2. Family (dunno why, but I never saw them)
  3. Gabriel with Genesis (seen solo Gabe and Genesis without him)
  4. Seventh Wave (they toured once and I missed them)
  5. The Sweet (most of the live recordings I've heard are actually pretty dire)
Oddly, three modern bands that I've missed for one reason or another that I really should try and see are:

Pain Of Salvation
Opeth
Porcupine Tree

What?

Shakti, first and foremost and by several country  miles. I wish they would come back for more, when they had come here 9 years back, I was not into fusion unfortunately.

After that,

Jethro Tull
Return to Forever
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Gentle Giant

Am going entirely by concert videos, have never seen any live prog.

the best 2 bands I've seen live were Russian Circles and Red Sparowes.  ZPZ were also cool,  as were Scale the Summit and Bigelf (that was PN '09).  DT on the other, was lousy on that tour.  They played all their crappy "hit" songs

Zappa Plays Zappa were good the two times I saw them.  But I prefer Ed Palermo's Big Band Zappa tribute...

2. Yes' Drama lineup (only one since Moraz I never saw).
3. Dixie Dregs.
4. Colosseum or Colosseum II.
5. Liquid Tension Experiment.

Led Zeppelin (I wasn't born yet when they were a going live concern Cry, so it will never happen)
The Who (I actually saw them last year! Smile It was ace!)
Porcupine Tree (saw them this year, and it was the best concert I've ever been to. Screw the haters)
Iron Maiden (Missed out on them last time they toured down here in Australia, but they're coming down again soon)
Black Sabbath (the original Ozzy line up. See my entry for Led Zep. Although, the guys are all still here. It can still happen!)
Hello, mirror. So glad to see you, my friend. It's been a while...
