Just keeping some good threads alive, here. I agree that Faust although not embarrasing or really bad, might be the least interesting album (I've got) by them. Even Marathonnerere has some really brilliant parts. Especially on part II.

How's the Nosferatu album? It seems to work brilliantly along with the images of the original Nosferatu movie in this clip.

I have the Nosferatu album but it was ages since I listened to it. Could do again and be back with an opinion.

I'm actually rather surprised that there aren't many more AZ fans at the board.  It's a big name in RiO, and not that inaccessible, is it?  The most rated albums only have 13 ratings (which is a lot, of course, for most avant bands here).
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

The Nosferatu album is much more melodic, sort to speak, if you compare it to Faust at least. It´s quite sinister, thats for sure, but it´s not that ultra low long notes all the time, there are some parts with great interplay among all instruments! I think it´s a solid 3.5... if not a bit more!

Surprised to see that Marriage is winning! I thought the rest of their cathalog wouldn´t satnd the chance against the first three. Nice to see I was wrong!

Isn't that just a cheap ploy to keep this thread alive and close to the top of the page? If so, it's working nicely.

BTW, is anybody familiar with Thierry Zaboitzieff's post-AZ albums? I've heard some impressive sounding extracts, but I don't know that much about his solo career.

Im not familiar with his solo career either, but will definitely look into it. I really like his bass contributions to their sound!

Back to Art Zoyd, GSF is my favorite with them so far. I've got a kick on it recently! Now I must get all those albums after that one.. LOL

One aspect of Art Zoyd's music that's rarely talked about, is the sheer beauty of the music. Sure, its dark and depressing, but far from just that. Especially the three 79-82 albums are full of stunning moments of melancholic and moving passages.

I'm sure I could easily make a compilation out of those three albums, and get my mother to love it.

Thinking about it, you're right!

One example is Divertissement from GSF. A really beautiful song, one of my favorites from that album. I really like Art Zoyd's contrasts between the painfully serious and the beauty in their works.

But the most beautiful Art Zoyd´s song is, by far, the bonus track Ballad from Musique Pour L’Odyssée. So moving!

If people keep adding pointless replies like this one, page 4 could be with us very soon indeed.

Bit of a sharp contrast though; one thread inspired by some of the most innovative music to emerge from the French speaking world in the last 50 years...

Art Zöyd? Shocked

I remember seeing that single on a blog somewhere. Will look for it!

How does it sound compared to their early albums?
