I dropped in on Yesworld tonight and noticed that Yes has yet another live album coming out, Like It Is:  Yes at the Bristol Hippodrome 2014.  Very nice cover art work from Roger Dean, I might add. It's the same color scheme as Heaven and Earth and features the de rigeur fantasy rock formations.  But back to the topic, I noticed several negative comments about the tracks featured, with people complaining that Yes was playing the same songs over and over again.

Here is the track list:

Going for the One
Turn of the Century
Parallels
Wonderous Stories
Awaken
Yours is No Disgrace
Clap
Starship Trooper
I've Seen All Good People
A Venture
Perpetual Change

Now, except for A Venture (which was only included on the latest tour if I remember correctly) all of The Yes Album material is very old hat.  As for the Going for the One material, most of the less played stuff showed up on Yesshows, while Awaken and Turn of the Century have been featured on Keys to Ascension 1 & 2.

Anyhow, I got to thinking about what a Yes set list which contained much more diverse material might look like.  Of course, we have to include some old favorites too.  Here is what I came up with.

Shock to the System
Mind Drive
Long Distance Runaround/The Fish
Time and a Word
Homeworld
Does it Really Happen?
The Gates of Delirium
Footprints
Machine Messiah
Astral Traveller
Masquerade
City of Love
In the Presence of

So how would you approach this?

In general I must say I like their setlists over the different tours, I got a couple live albums, and every set includes some favourites, but it isn't always the same, lately they play complete albums on their shows, so the overlap is getting bigger, but this setlist, doesn't overlap with another show where they play Fragile and Close To The Edge in it's entirety. So I tink it's diverse enough. (check the available albums on this site and see how from the 90's on the setlist cleverly changes).

Anyway to your question. Your setlist seems nice. Here's mine, because I just love making lists.

1. Something's Coming  (seems an apropriate start tune)
2. Future Times/Rejoice  (great opening so far)
3. Owner Of A Lonely Heart (obligatory biggest hit and a great song)
4. Magnification (best of their latest days)
5. The Ancient (have to have a long song in it)
6. Don't Kill The Whale (bring back some pace)
7. Heart Of The Sunrise (keeping up the pace)
8. Sound Chaser (freaking the audience out)
9. Hearts (slowing down a bit)
10. Survival (getting gentler)
11. Siberian Khatru (have to have something from the edge)
12. Starship Trooper (best from Yes Album)
Encore:
13: Release Release (that the audience don't expect)
14. Walls (didn't see that coming either)
15. Roundabout (can't have a live album without)

I would see this show, but than again I would go to Yes if they played Open Your Eyes in full.

I considered both Hearts and Survival and rejected them because neither seemed right without Jon.  Roundabout felt like an obligatory closer but ultimately I left it out.  Future Times was in a three way tie with Does It Really Happen and It Can Happen, but lost out.

Nice list.

i feel it should be something more like the 35th Anniversary Tour Setlist but put through even further with more material from their early days (like their first two albums) and more with some of their other underrated albums, past, and present (like Drama, Tormato, and Talk). Something like this would probably be the best of both worlds and please the most Yes fans like myself (and i'm a 15-year-old American!)

I miss doing stuff like this.  Smile  I'll make my list, and in italics, I'll leave a note why I chose each piece.

Main Set

Yours is No Disgrace
Either this or "Siberian Khatru" is Yes' best concert opener.
The Prophet
An overlooked gem from their sophomore album.
It Can Happen
     Perhaps my favorite from 90125.
Then
I would love to hear this in a modern, more sophisticated context.
And You and I
What I would call the definitive Yes song.
Homeworld (The Ladder)
One of their best pieces from the past decade.
We Agree
Also one of their best pieces from the past decade, and I'm sorry it's so overlooked from Magnification.
The Remembering
Forget the naysayers- my third favorite Yes song...
The Revealing Science of God
     ...and my first.
Believe Again
I like this song a lot.
Roundabout
     Tradition!
I am Waiting
Talk is a good album with some great material, and this is one of those.
To Be Over
This is one of my favorite unnoticed Yes masterpieces.  I actually bought a DVD (Live in Montreux) because it had this song listed on the back.  How unlucky I was that it was merely a Steve Howe solo intermission.

Encore:

Survival
My favorite piece from their debut.
Hearts
     A moving closer.

^I like your list, especially It Can Happen, We Agree, and I am Waiting are great additions and The Prophet is indeed an overlooked gem. I don't agree with Believe Again, but still, why not add it to the list. Only mistake is leaving out owner of a lonely heart, should be on the Encore.

As I really enjoy making lists like these, here's another one:

First effort I focused in on Tormato, now I'll focus on their post Drama albums.

1. Close To The Edge   (starting with grandeur)
2. Themes   (ABWH)
3. Owner Of A Lonely Heart   (obligatory, so got to have it)
4. Lift Me Up  ( I really hate Union)
5. Awaken   ( A Union song really has to be followed by something really good)
6. Harold Land  (just a little surprise for the fans)
7. Clap   (need some Howe in his mix)
8. Changes (my first Yes song that I loved)
9. Birthright  (we need more ABWH)
10. The Calling  (Talk has to be included)
11. Roundabout   (obligatory)
12. Lightning Strikes  (why not)
13. Spirit Of Survival (I really like Magnification)
Encores:
14. America (after this show you really need a powerfull ending)
15. All Good People (that should fit).

Actually, I kind of like the solo guitar version of To Be Over better than the original. I feel the original was a bit over-long. I would love if they had done an acoustic version of the song played by the whole band (similar to the ones they did around the time) - that might have been my absolute perfect version of it.

While I disagree, an acoustic version with the whole band of "To Be Over" would be amazing, and it would have been interesting to hear Wakeman on piano with that one.

1. Siberian Khatru
2. Turn of the Century
3. Going For the One
4. Perpetual Change
5. Soon
6. Starship Trooper
7. Yours Is No Disgrace
8. Don't Kill the Whales
9. Roundabout
10. Sound Chaser

No real surprises here and not necessarily in this order. Of course, Roundabout can only be classified as an encore. Also, more songs could be played in a two-hour set, but I didn't feel like stretching my brain to add more (and I have to get back to work).

Had a feeling I was making a spelling error at the time I wrote "Whales." I'll try to live up to your high standards in future posts.

OK, the songs I would really like to hear are:
- Firebird Suite (played by the band).
- Starship Trooper.
- Roundabout.
- South Side of the Sky.
- Close to the Edge.
- And You And I.
- The Gates of Delirium.
- Awaken.

Not sure about the order, though.
And if we are talking about the line-up for a current show, I guess it would have to be with Squire, Howe, Anderson back, but with Davison still in the band, and Rick Wakeman back (or at least Oliver). And I'm afraid I would have to want some new younger wonder drummer (unless White really elevates his performance again).

I dunno if I could make a live setlist, but I could try making a compilation.

I agree with Rob. These things are so much fun to do. Big smile
