Topic: Favorite Rush Epic Posted: August 17 2006 at 08:37 |
I guess it has to be 2112, it's the one I know the best right now. Both Xanadu and Hemispheres are great songs, it's a very hard choice.

Cygnus X-1 has always been my favorite work from Rush, the concept, music and general feel to it is amazing. The section starting from about the 14th minute is the best passage of Rush music I've ever heard.

Ok, I will stop my 2112 bashing...but only because of the positive latin prog thing...

It'd be fantastic if it wasn't for those elephant seals dying in the background.

Natural Science is close behind La Villa for me. Although The Fountain of Lamneth is underappreciated, IMO.

It IS an amazing track, as is The Necromancer.
Man, apart from I think I'm going Bald, Caress of Steel is one hell of an album. Criminally underrated. Who agrees ? |
Well, I agree, and I even like "I think I'm going Bald" despite the hilarious lyrics.

Well, I havent heard Xanadu and Fountain...but as Natural Science is pretty much my favorite Rush song I must vote fro that one...
Also, why does 2112 get so much lovin´??? I emna, sure the overture and the preist section are pretty nice...but then it looses, with thouse guitar passages and Greedy singing "listen to my music..."...I dont see what the fuzz is all about.

2112, by far. But is Xanadu really an epic epic? I mean, half of it's instrumental, so the epic narrative is only like six minutes. Longer than most pop and even, I would venture, most prog, but not really "epic".... your call on that one, cause 2112 wins.
