Peter Gabriel from Genesis of course, but why oh why did you have to miss out on Brian Ferry and Robbie Plant?

Songs in the key of rock is a good example. Raw power and energy all over the record.Gasoline makes listener crazy.

From the list, I went for Neal Morse. My favorite singer is Ian Gillan for the sheer power and range that he had and to a lesser degree, still has. I agree with Glenn Hughes as well. I lost touch with his music and only recently re-discovered him with his Songs In The Key Of Rock cd. Absolutly stunning pipes on the guy.

Almost forgot the voice of rock - Glenn Hughes. He never played prog rock, but his singing is unique. I haven't heard a voice any stronger.
And what aboat Roger Chapman? His works with great band FAMILY are very innovative and ineresting. Especially, his works on 1970 "A song for me".

I agree with you !
But for me Peter Hammill is far more than a voice !!!!
I would like to vote both for Peter Gabriel (a world of creativity, thks for the music of the world) and Jon Anderson (the angel who makes you feel lighter, thks for your works with Vangelis).
I have pointed out that a lot of "Neo-Prog" singers mimic Peter Gabriel's voice (consciously or not), Fish first.
In fact they mimic Fish copying Gabriel.( yes, I know Marillion's fans would kill me know)
Don't agree ?
Listen the voice of Fish singing more recently with Tony Banks : closer to Phil Collins than Gabriel !
"He chameleon"
It's curious that nobody can realy mimic Jon Anderson !
kisses

John Wetton would be my choice, with Greg Lake in second place. I do like Adrien's singing in KC as well.

What about that guy, or was it a girl? from Pavlov's Dog. Was he Geddy Lee's long lost twin? Just kidding. Bill Bruford was actually on one of these albums.

I've voted for Ian Anderson, because I really love his raw, but subtle voice! I don't know why everybody is voting for LaBrie. He IS a good singer, but I don't think his voice has got anything special.

I was going to as where Hammill was as well...while all the above are good choices, Hammill is too unique a treasure to overlook.

HEY GUYS;What about Tiny Tim, one of the great prog voices .Tiptoe through the Tulips was one of the great examples of Minimalist Prog .He was so far ahead of his time that we have completely missed the point!!!

What, is Geddy too high pitched for you to include in the poll???
Lacking him, I'd vote for LaBrae, the new Robert Plant

Sorry, None of the above. Roy Khan, Tom Englund, Oliver Phillips, Bob Catley, Joe Lynn Turner. I would have picked one of them. |
Bob Catley - my word; I'd almost forgotten about Magnum, one of my favorite bands in the '80's, ah the memories, 'Great Adventure', 'Soldier of the line'....
Thanks for the reminder

I chose Neal Morse, simply because of versatility. The young Wetton was my fav as a student.
