Mainstream music is always bad.
I like some underground Hip Hop, I don't like any emo music at all though. Prog isn't the be all and end all though, quite suprised that no prog has experimented with hip hop at all really. |

Why not? Emo is a stupid term that could be used to describe anything. Vocalists in old (real) Emo bands very seldom had high-pitched voices, though. |

This thread has all kinds of bad vibes in it.
Of the emo music I've heard (including a lot of emo bands that pass through a local venue in town), I haven't really enjoyed any of it. I don't have much knowledge regarding the genre, but what I do know isn't for me. Rap, on the other hand, has plenty to love. Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Lupe Fiasco, Jedi Mind Tricks, Immortal Technique (if I feel like being really freaked out), and even Kanye are among a lot of great sounds going on in rap today.
If you only listen to the mainstream, you're going to miss out on a lot of stuff. And if you completely ignore the mainstream out of elitism, then you'll also miss out on a whole lot of stuff.
