Well, I'm going to recommend people to give my album a try. I gave my own spin to the Genesis songs in the album that have found very positive reviews. My own compositions are brand new but bring back those sweet sounds of the Mellotron and the ARP synthesizer. I think it is an interesting mix but then again, I am the one who did it. However, Steve Hackett seemed to really like it and gave me some raving comments. Billy Sherwood (YES, CIRCA) was also very complementary as it was Shannon Taylor and Ty Tabor (King's X). With such great musicians complementing me on the album I can't help but to feel pretty good about it. Feel free to check out the sound samples at: http://www.leonplaysmusic.com/Site/Music_%26_Credits.html

I base my music on creating soundscapes and textures that at times blend or contrast with each other. For this particular album my compositions were heavily influenced by Genesis' instrumentals but they are still rich and hold their own. If you are a Genesis fan who would like to hear some new takes on some old songs as well as some new music done in the similar style of the Genesis from the late seventies, then perhaps you'll find my CD to be something you like. Check the web address listed here to hear the music and to read about the thinking behind it.

I recommend Cloudkicker. Cloudkicker is the instrumental, avant-prog metal project of Ben Sharp, who resides in Columbus, Ohio. He releases all his albums for free. Excellent math rock mixed with some post. Check him out!. Thumbs Up If you like the band Textures you'll enjoy this as well.

ALL Schoenberg is good.  Of his students, I like Anton Webern; have yet to hear Alban Berg, but I will be correcting that soon.

I don't know if we have it in Progarchives, but Flametal is the best example of extreme/tech/shred-metal blended with flamenco.

The thing is, I'd like to find a band which has Spanish- or Latino- or such influences, you know, like flamenco guitar etc. And I'd also like it to be some kinda (prog)rock or -metal, you know, like Mars Volta. I seriously when they sing in Spanish or play some acoustic parts, even though the electric parts are as good too. Do you have anything to match my seekings? :P

Thanks in advance, even if you don't find anything you at least tried. ;)

Try Return to Forever's The Romantic Warrior, a nice acoustic piece that embodies such influences. Check out all their albums from Hymn of the 7th Galaxy through Romantic Warrior. They are jazz-fusion so there is a lot more going on alongside the Spanish influences, but Al Di Meola's early solo work has a very Spanish influenced feel to it as well. Hope that helps

I know these guys are a death metal act but they have one album that stands out as very interesting. GoreGuts is the band and the album is Obscura ( i think that spelled correctly). The first time I heard this album I hated it, it so abbrasive but here was something going on in the music that stuck to me. Fair warning though not for everyone the vocals are well different even by death metal standards. I put the album up for a while then came across it again and i just put it on and let it sink in. Suddenly it became clear I saw what the band was going for. I will not try to explain the sound cause I cant its something you will need to hear for your self. Check it out if you have the time.

Zu - Carboniferous

jazz/metal/noise/rock/math/ ...wtf knows.  Just excellent, visceral music from this Italian three-piece.  15th album, debut on Mike Patton's Ipecac label.

I would like to recommend a uk a Alt-Space/ Progressive rock group called Suns Of The Tundra.
In the early 90s they were a psychedelic/shoegaze metal called 'Peach', one Justin Chancellor from Tool
was the original bass player.
Tool have covered 2 songs by Peach/Suns , one is 'You lied' & was released on the 'Salival' box set, the other track was 'Spasm',-both are on 'You Tube'

The 'Peach' album 'Giving Birth To A Stone' is still available(it contains a King Crimson cover of 'catfood'!!)
the 2 Suns of The Tundra albums are available from the website.

For fans of ; TOOL,PORCUPINE TREE & Oceansize
