That reminds me of how I used to post in such threads how I'm expecting the 2008 KC album. Look how that ended.

2009 was probably the best year for me, when comparing those I lived through - 09/10/11

There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

Isn't the Mikael-SW collaboration supposed to be coming out in 2012?  IIRC I think they're naming it Storm Corrosion.

Ray Bennett has promised a new Flash album forever, but I haven't heard anything official yet, except that the final studio mixdown is complete.

That looks good ... but to be honest with you the only tour of Patrick's I would welcome was a similar one he did years ago ... that he would just do individual shows at your home ... or something like it.

I would pay him to play for an evening, have a cup of tea, and tell jokes and talk about the music as he wishes and plays anything he wants ...

Some of these tours are ... tired ... to my ears ... and all I see is people trying to recreate a youthful feeling they no longer have and can't sustain ... and one hopes that if they have new material (big IF) that it can stand up to earlier stuff instead of sounding like re-hashing things.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

There will almost definitely be new Mars Volta, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Beardfish, and probably Karnivool.

Reading through some of the posts in this thread, I feel like I'm in a time warp.  Guided by Voices? Anglagard? Spock's Beard with Neal Morse?  Thinking Plague?  I thought all those groups were kaput.  I guess it's great news that they aren't.

The things I'm looking forward to most in 2012 are:

Another new one from Mogwai (might be too soon)

Something from Sunn 0))) (they are due for another mindblower)

Pavement's "Terror Twilight" reissued as a 2 disc deluxe package (this is actually in the can;but  the release has been delayed for a couple of years now, for no apparent reason other than to annoy me)

I'm looking forward to the new Threshold album, although Damian Wilson is hardly a favourite singer.

Not for those of us in the U.S. Unhappy It comes out here January 10th.

You Europeans always get albums released before those of us 'across the pond'.

I still don't understand why the record companies do it that way these days. I would think it leads to more piracy.

Is the Sigur Rós a sure thing for 2012?
I was rather disappointed with their last (2008) release.  Here's hoping this one's better.
