First of all apologies if I don't have your favourite on here. There were so many to pick from this year compared to the previous 10 or more years that it made it difficult.

Ignis Fatuus, closely followed by Afraid of Sunlight and The Edges of Twilight.
In the Woods... HEart of the Ages would have got my vote if it was on here though, love that album.

Love Book Of Hours from that Nucleus album. That record took me quite a while to finally appreciate because of how "noisy" I found it to be. Same with that Happy Family debut.

I haven't heard that In The Woods... album yet. I should make the effort because I really do love that band. Yeah i'd rate White Willow's debut as a top three from that band. Great record !

I would have liked to see Art Zoyd's Faust, which ranks amongst my very favourites from Art Zoyd, and is my favourite album from that year.
Anyway, my choice is between the Zeuhl and Avant Prog candidates on the list. I think I may go with Happy Family -- an album I prefer to the second one, but my heart is kind of leading me to Miriodor's Jongleries Elastique. Great album by the first "modern prog" band I got into, and was one of my earliest modern prog purchases that I loved (I started with the also excellent 3rd Warning). I alos love the Xaal, and that Honeyelk is good.

The Sky Moves Sideways, for Moonloop (Coda), Stars Die, and The Moon Touches Your Shoulder.
I'm not that fond of Afraid of Sunlight, but Out of This World is one of my favorite tracks by them, and King is pretty good too.

I have spot just now Wanorak's comment...it's strange as our tastes sometimes coincide and sometimes are so opposite...

Greg ! I started out with a list of 27 which included "Faust" and also John Greaves' "Songs" and Deus Ex Machina's "De Republica". That is one my my favourite Miriodor albums by the way. Love both the Xaal albums which are quite different from one another and Honeyelk doesn't seem to get much attention but it's in the top half of this list for me.

Hey John, it's been a while. Those are very good albums you left off the list.. It must be quite the challenge trimming these down to 13, especially for someone such as yourself who has such a substantial music collection. By the way, I also like the Nouva Era, Anekdoten and Porcupine Tree representatives. Good stuff. I should check out Pangee. It was a great year for music, and one of the strongest post 80s years in my collection.

I have a very soft (and also icy cold) spot for the spectral White Willow debut......Most of the others listed are just a tad behind.

Its closer to their Black Metal roots but has some amazing music on it, almost a match for Omnio.

My actual fave is The Gathering's Mandylion, but I'll happily cast a vote for Anekdoten any ol' day.
