Yes are not better than ELP, and ELP are not better than Yes. Isn't that obvious?

Yes always have that sameness to their music.....poncey guitar sounds and good keyboards, at least ELP could and would often blow Yes out of the water with their nose and showmanship and even better music. All good musuicians were Yes, but ELP were even better.

And before you ask i have every ELP album and every Yes album.

Yes, it's as easy as that, but i think i am actually most of the time in the mood for Yes, Yes is never too much, there is always a time for Yes, this band has had more meaning in my life than ELP, and just because of that i'd say that "ELP are not better than Yes".

Let's see. ELP can surely play better, but however Yes is much more talented writing-wise, so I'll go with NO.

They are both amazing bands with all the excesses they brought to
music. Yes is far more influential than ELP, even with the line up changes.
I guess that managed to bring a lot more consistent albums (and more
sucessful too)

ElP don't come close.

They're both excellent bands whose contribution is essential to the history of rock music (not just prog). I'd say Yes's music is perhaps a bit more complex, while ELP's has got the harder edge of the two. At the moment I listen to more ELP than Yes, but I must say I love both bands and I find it impossible to choose one over the other. They're both among my all-time favourites, and that's all!

yes prevails in every possible way, IMO.

  • better musicianship
  • doesn't piss me off with annoying songs
  • doesn't have emerson in the band
  • didn't write "Karn Evil 9" the worst prog track i've ever heard
  • wrote....
  • ....Fragile....
  • ....Close to the Edge....
  • ....Rlayer....
  • ....Going for the One....
  • didn't make Love Beach
  • keyboardists didn't piss me off
  • were listenable

as you may have realized by now, i hate ELP.

Not a huge fan of either, but I'd say I like Yes more.
