Hi,
Djam Karet - their first 4 albums are massive and more progressive and experimental than about 80 of the 100 listed in the top list in this board!
Ozric Tentacles - Either Erpland or Strangeitude
Lana Lane and the Rocket Scientists - Oblivion Days Porcupine Tree - Deadwing
NP: -- Dark Clouds No Rain
Gosh ... I have to look at my collection now to make this a decent list! I really find too much of the "progressive" music in the past several years to be mostly copycat stuff and not original at all. Some of it is just louder and "heavier" with a sound effect on the guitar so we can call it "goth", "metal" or some other verbosity out there. Edited by moshkito - July 15 2010 at 17:21 |

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

But wouldn't it be MORE metal to actually bite you? Hell, biting sounds great. Let's beat each other to Leper Affinity.

Here are mine. I tried to narrow it down to 20, but couldn't bring myself to cut anymore, so there are 23. They are roughly in order of release date. Also, I decided to stick to one album per band/artist so as not to display my obvious fanboyism
![]() Marillion- Brave The Flower Kings- Stardust We Are Ayreon- Into The Electric Castle Dream Theater- Scenes From A Memory Kevin Gilbert- The Shaming of the True Pain of Salvation- The Perfect Element Transatlantic- Bridge Across Forever Porcupine Tree- In Absentia Spock's Beard- Snow A.C.T.- Last Epic Kaipa- Keyholder The Tangent- The Music That Died Alone Echolyn- Mei Neal Morse- One IZZ- My River Flows Frost*- Milliontown Neal Morse- Sola Scriptura Phideaux- Doomsday Afternoon Karmakanic- Who's The Boss In The Factory Moon Safari- Blomljud Opeth- Watershed The Dear Hunter- Act III: Life And Death The Decemberists- The Hazards of Love Edit: Oops, I put two Neal Morse albums on there! Oh well, I guess I couldn't hide my fanboyism after all ![]() Edited by natewait - July 16 2010 at 01:14 |
