I'm going to probably be the only one to vote for Diagonal. Love that thing!

A lot of great stuff to vote for, today I'll go with Samla Mammas Manna, but Diagonal and Picchio dal Pozzo sure needs more votes as well.

Black Sabbath. Santana. Led Zeppelin. Or this lovely French jazz-fusion-zeuhl band from way back in 2013 that nobody's paying attention to, Caillou.

Neu from the list.

My favourite in this category would be ELP.

So the only ones left without votes are Weather Report and The Cosmic Jokers? That's actually pretty good - I would've thought there'd been far more acts on here with a big fat zero. Anyway, glad to be proven wrong.
Also kinda surprised to see Camel running with this. I knew they'd be one of the top contenders, mainly because folks know the band, but to me personally, it's not anywhere near the genre-defying breaking-down-the-barriers no-nonsense beautiful simplicity of the NEU! debut. AND that's saying something, because I love that Camel album to pieces.

Still not entirely sure what to vote for, but what's new about that....I never know what to vote for in my pollsLOL

I'm a bit surprised (..again)  that Camel got the most votes. It's a really nice LP but not as good as several of the other debuts there but then it is all subjective.

Well there is a certain naive charm about it - even if it does sound awfully close to Santana. A lot more charming than say Mirage, which I then think is a better album.
Subjectivity is the key, you're absolutely right about thatBig smile

Ahh nuts!
Just glanced at one of my cd shelves and saw the Quella Vecchia Locanda debut scouring back at meOuch Should've been included in this poll, my bad.

Hmm....never really noticed the similarity to Santana, I'll have to play it later today.
For me Mirage and Moonmadness are equal in their quality.

If the first camel only contained  the song Six Act, it would be a short but wonderful album. Tongue

I was never that keen on Moonmadness, but I do adore some tracks off it. Mirage has always been my fave.
BTW it's the early Santana sound I am referring to. Remove all the latin percussion and the feel and sound is very similar to that Camel debut imo.
