I found this borderline unheard of guy on Youtube. Here's a prog-metal tune he did. It's ridiculous stuff.

This is growing on me a lot and it's not on Prog Archives' list yet at all.  They label themselves instrumental prog/experimental/electronic.  Individually each track isn't particularly proggy but the whole thing is a cohesive whole.  Echo Tail, Hold the Throne.

If I had to list things it reminds me of... Anathema, Type O Negative, Tearwave, Stone Temple Pilots, Bush, A Sleeping Theory.  Very slow-riffy.
