Hawkwind's s/t is a personal favourite.
I am currently digging:

Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz!

Please drop me a message with album suggestions.

I voted for that as well, wonderful album, would follow with Hatfield & National Health

Cool to see these guys getting some love. I thought it would be me and John who knew about this album and then that'd be about it. Nice to see both you and ze dark elf chiming in.
I think I prefer the following album Faith of old Mother Orvis to this one though, but it's pretty damn close.

Ultimately it's between Neu!, Picchio dal Pozzo, and Faust for me, but I'm going with Neu!

Hah I just did the same Greg. Love the simplicity of it, and that unique 'magic' that keeps unveiling before my ears. It still happens to me actually. Just when i think I know everything about the album, I find new layers. So much happening even if it doesn't sound like it - one has to pay attention with this thing. Maybe that's true with all music, but it's only rarely I've felt it stronger than with NEU!'s debut.

Absolutely. Very well said, David.

^Thanks. I guess they continued to make albums like this, but I think this debut is their best, and perhaps also their most subtle. I really dig the subsequent albums, but they never bettered the formula imo.

BTW how do you feel about the follow up album '2'? I think it gets a bum rep due to the recycling of side 1 on side 2. Personally I think the speed sabotaging of that second side is a small stroke of genius regardless of it being down to lack of finance and studio time.

Rush by Rush.  Big smile  I've only heard Camel, Caravan, and Diagonal so I won't vote.  Of those 3,  I'd probably lean towards Diagonal for my favorite.

^ Rush's Rush is a good album -- gets a too bum rep sometimes for being too derivative of Zep (can't say I like it as much as Zep, but that's by-the-by).

I also think the début the best, but I really like 2.  2 was actually the first Neu! album I got, and the one that got me into the band in the first place.  I didn't like the début as much as the second when I first heard it, but not surprisingly part of that has to do with hearing the second one first.

By the way, I tend to love Greenback's reviews especially when I have a different perspective on music, and I was reminded of one of my favourites of his reviews about NEU! 2:

1 stars NEU! = NOISE

Imagine: you record a basic dull & marginal song with minimal guitars and drums, and then you record it at 78 RPM, then 16 RPM, and make an album with that!! Why the hype for that? I can't believe I am the only one to give it the lowest possible rating! Take a dull rhythmic LP of your collection, place it on your turntable, play it without the electrical motor traction: spin fast the vinyl with your finger while listening it! Repeat the same procedure with a VERY slow finger motion! This describes the best how this record sounds!

I have only heard Hallogallo from Neu! based on some raving comments about it.  My opinion was that the riff/rhythm/beat was really cool, but 11 minutes of that same riff/rhythm beat was about 8 minutes too much for my tastes.
