I don't think any of these names are either good or bad, just names. I think Van der Graaf Generator is a great name for those fans who are science-minded (even if the name is misspelt). King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is either a great name or a silly name, depending on the mood. But perhaps the best name, because it is very appropriate for the group, is The Residents.

Hahaha, below the level of that band's name there's still place for the cover.

Worst band name ever: The First International Sex Opera Band. This really is a band name; the band made one album called "Anita". The music is as weird as the band name, and many people will even think it is as bad as the band name (I don't; it's just weird).

All names that are countries or even continents are much worse than any of the offered, which are not great but nothing to complain about, brand associations aside. And IQ is even worse than those.

I'm actually surprised to see YES so high.

Yes, then Magma and Camel.
I would have welcomed Relayer played by Yes and Magma (with at least Christian Vander Approve)

Ditto.

And: CAN = Communism, Anarchism, Nihilism. Big smile

I'm going to call my band Five Red Rhinos just to be annoying.

There all pretty silly when you think about it.

There aren't many genuinely good band names IMO. I mean....Porcupine Tree? WTF is that about..?

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Can is the only one that makes me go what? Whenever I hear the name I think of either a toilet or a soda can.

Camel would be okay if not for the association with cigarettes.
