New project by Ben Craven (Australia) with an album that IMHO is a 5 stars

Born from the uncertainty of lockdowns and the joy of spontaneous creation, Ambient Den is the new space rock project from Australian prog musicians Ben Craven (“Monsters From The Id”, “Great & Terrible Potions”), Tim Bennetts (Seven Day Mask, SUB INC), and Dean Povey (Frankenfido). What began as intimate jam sessions between Craven and Bennetts evolved into a full-fledged band project, built on a dynamic musical chemistry reminiscent of David Gilmour & Rick Wright, or Mike Rutherford & Tony Banks.

The band’s self-titled debut album, “Ambient Den”, is a cinematic concept record that tells the story of humanity’s search for a new home among the stars, culminating in the terraforming of a distant world. Produced by Craven, the album stays true to his signature lush arrangements and layered instrumentation, but the songwriting is a collaborative effort. Inspired by the great progressive rock bands of the 1970s, Ambient Den embraces the spirit of musicians creating together in the same room, much like the classic era before success scattered band members across different continents. The result is an album that blends atmosphere, melody, and grand storytelling, standing apart from Craven’s solo work while retaining the cinematic, immersive qualities that fans have come to love.
With “Ambient Den” releasing July 28, the band invites listeners to embark on an odyssey through space and sound. And for those paying attention, the name Ambient Den is more than just a phrase. It’s an anagram of “Tim”, “Ben”, and “Dean”, a reflection of the unity and spontaneity that defines the project.

Well, the biography is word-for-word copied from the band's official website, which isn't really sticking to Keishiro's revised Artist Submission Procedure which he introduced in March 2020 in an attempt to stem the flood of new suggestions that we had towards the end of 2019, and which caused several genre teams to become overwhelmed with a backlog of suggestions to process, but this is good stuff indeed, and I think it will be an absolute shoo-in for Crossover.

So, I'll sort out an original biography for these guys myself, and I'm happy to say that they're now on the Crossover chart with my 'yes'. Thanks for bringing the band to our attention.

David,
You are 100% correct that the bio w2w is on the band's website but when I ask of bands to send me a BIO so I can recommend them to PA, I'm in mercy of what the bands gives me, in this case they have it on their website, to me the idea of introducing bands that are for sure should be on PA, I can go with what I have or not bother at all and then the PA community will lose, BTW I can suggest new bands daily but it's too much effort from my point of view, (I have a life too) so I don't! Edenya, Bakelit & Ambient Den that I introduced lately, I felt a need to introduce them, a specially the last two cause IMHO their albums are 5 stars, so I hope they get into PA so everybody can enjoy their music

^ The requirement that an original biography is included with a new suggestion has indeed caused a marked decline in the number of bands/artists that are being submitted, and as a result our database now has several quite significant omissions.

I am quite happy to throw something together for a new suggestion if the band or artist concerned obviously belongs here, but not all the genre teams have someone like me available, who is now well into retirement, and has plenty of time on his hands during the majority of the year to dig out and edit the necessary info to create these biographies.

Until Keishiro rewrote the artist submission procedure back in late February 2020 to give the genre teams some much needed breathing space, we were getting several new suggestions presented here most days of the week - often with little or no biographical info provided. Most of our genre teams have lost one or more active members since then, and it's not been possible to find replacements for all of them, so the situation regarding the writing of biographies would now be even more difficult for them if we were to re-open the floodgates.

Yes, the PA community loses as a result of this insistence on the provision of an original biography with each fresh suggestion, but that's the only way it can be with the current set up that we have. There are quite a few members here who could suggest new bands daily - including both collabs and non-collabs - but just like yourself, they also have a life to live outside of PA, so we're stuck with things as they are, I'm afraid.

Edit: There is actually nothing wrong with PA using a biography provided by the band or artist themselves, as long as we have permission from them to do so, and include an appropriate credit at the end of the biography.

However, the biography included on the Ambient Den website to me reads a bit too much like a press release/promotional piece than a purely factual biography, so I don't think it would really be suitable to use it on our page as it is, even if we do have their permission.

What would you like me to do? I got all the info from their promoter (BadDog) and yes it's press release/promotional piece on the website too

^ You don't need to do anything in this instance, Mayer, since I'm going to provide a biography to use for these guys myself if we clear them in Crossover.

It would be useful to the other genre teams if you could provide an original biography of your own with any future suggestions you have in mind - even if it's only a very brief biography - and most of our team leaders would credit you at the bottom if they subsequently used it on the page.

However, if the only biography that you have for any future suggestion has been given to you by a band or its promoter, and it's essentially just a promotional blurb, then there's no harm in posting it here anyway if you don't have time to edit it into something more suitable yourself, and if the band clearly belongs on PA then I'll do my best to sort something out with it myself.

Review posted, thrilling album....
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.
