Haha, no, you're thinking of Robert Johnson. His material is amazing, and sometimes kind of bleak - but no disturbing. Daniel Johnston is an artist whose work is defined as "outsider art." Basically, he doesn't fit any one genre, but it's really beautiful stuff. A movie came out recently that gives some insight on the guy's life, The Devil & Daniel Johnston.
