Can someone move them all to the Just For Fun section, or leave them where they are but make them to not show up in the "Recent posts" area? Please. At this moment all new posts are from one particular thread; since when has this forum become of anything else but music? Dead

Last time I checked, they were in the "General Discussion' section, where you can 'talk about anything.' Personally, i think they're in the perfect place, and the Just For Fun section is certainly not a place to be talking about anything with any weight =)

Yep the General Discussion area is for exactly subjects like those. Subjects not related to music. Itīs a sensitive subject but rest assured the threads are being watched by admins and if anyone should step over the acceptable line action will be taken. Itīs one of the beauties of PA IMO. We discuss and are allowed to do so as long as we show respect for each other. Not many other forums are as strictly controlled when it comes to bad language and other unpleasant things. If itīs a subject that bothers you, just look the other way and donīt participate.

I guess the only thing would be to hide the General Discussions topics from the recent posts list just as the topics in "Just for Fun" are.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I think the OP was complaining more about the fact that the thread title(s) dominate(s) the most recent posts - and that's something you can't ignore, really.  But in fact the main "Atheist" thread is in the right place and an admin is participating (thus obviously monitoring).

Guys, no one wants to remove the threads altogether. As long as they remain civil, they can and should stay. The thing is, as both Alex and Pat pointed out, they show in the active threads, and there are times (like yesterday evening) in which you could hardly see anything else. After all, this is a MUSIC forum, and we don't want to run off any prospective new members.

Earlier this evening 8 of the 10 most recent posts were in the Atheist thread.  Perhaps, it's not such a bad idea to eliminate sections of the forum not dealing with music from the active thread/recent posts list.  While I believe it adds a lot to this site to have those threads and they should NOT be taken away, this is a music site and those who come here to glance at the topics being discussed probably shouldn't be deluged with "Do You Believe In God?", "Are You a Satanist?",  "Naked Pics of The Doctor" threads.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

No.

You can't put in JFF a topic that doesn't belong there.
Modify the "recent posts" function, limit it to the music sections, if possible.

No recent posts for that thread, I've noticed.  Wonder why?  Dead

I think that would be a good idea, I have seen the some of the general discussions fill up the recent posts list, depending on how active a thread is. I think it would be a good idea to exclude general discussions, since it is only one section and is relatively easy to keep track of threads within it.

Where do I report that the search function isn't working right?

I'd rather have only one thread, and have it be my "Philosophical discussion" thread, because that's that all this is with a better name. Wink

I would like a Philosophy thread, because there's more to philosophy than just the existence of God.  Although, I probably wouldn't be very helpful in it, because most of the time I'm just a 14-year-old who doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

Mike would disagree... he doesn't believe it is a philosophical discussion... he believe is rational explanation and logical preponderance of science... don't know why I end up in this thread... Oh yeah...!!! it was because of the "recent post" function... interesting...

Change the program inside... Stay in silence is a crime.

What function are you talking about? I can't find a "Recent Posts" page anywhere.

I always go by the active topics lists, which is available in the top nav (it's labeled "New Posts", but used to be "Active Topics"):

http://www.progarchives.com/forum/active_topics.asp

There aren't really many threads on the subject (two polls plus the one about evolution and Teo's thread) ...  so I didn't even notice any problem, the entire religious discussion today took place in one thread only.

BTW: I would agree that the general discussions/topics should be left out of the list you're talking about.

Mike.  Go to the forum home page.  Scroll all the way down to the bottom.  It shows the last ten threads in which there were posts.

^ why would anyone use this list to find out what's been going on? The active topics page is not limited to ten threads and neatly grouped into categories in the correct sequence.

As long as it doesn't get abusive, I don't think its a problem.

There are plenty of people who don't use it.

I'm a 100% "active topics" guy myself, nevertheless: let's treat the "recent topics" like it matters.

And if it's not about "using it to see what's going on", it's then about what's showing up on the front page of a forum.
