I was pleased to see all the crappy Ok Computer reviews removed, but I'm afraid the Radiohead section is still somewhat troubled.
RADIOHEAD Hail to the thief Review by Progmeister @ 10:30:16 AM EST, 1/20/2005
— I guess the people who put Radiohead on this site must have a sense of humor, judging by all the abuse their albums are taking... I am sure there is going to be more abuse heaped on them in the future. Anyway, back to the album - there is nothing to say about it other than: it's a piece of junk.
RADIOHEAD Hail to the thief Review by Redhead @ 11:18:17 AM EST, 1/20/2005
 — Right you are, this is NOT progmusic, its probably brit pop or somewhere near that, however Radiohead are a good exsample of angry brit pop. Progressive, NO WAY !!! if you need new inspiration to the world of prog, seek elsewhere!! Radiohead doesnt make it!!!
Or even... *gasp...controversy!*
RADIOHEAD Hail to the thief Review by Marcelo @ 8:16:24 AM EST, 1/20/2005 PROG REVIEWER
 — I don't know why a band as RADIOHEAD is considerated progressive. From my point of view, this is an alternative-pop band (more pop than alternative), absolutely commercial and lack of creativity. OK, if you compare them with another terrible MTV crap "musicians", it's quite better, but... is this enough to speak about a "prog" group? Many times, I think that prog community has some panic about the death of our beloved music. So, desperately try to find, in the new movements, progressive hints or "hidden" prog. Anyway, "Hail to the Thief" IS NOT a progressive or an "almost progressive" cd. I only heard the same basic guitars and drums along the whole album. The melodies are the same, rythms are the same, there are not changes, surprises, beauty... Summarizing, there are not interesting elements here. Boring! Totally. In these days, there's a Romanian pop group (O'Zone) sounding all time in every radio and music channel with the hit "Dragostea Din Tei" (arggg). Perhaps, some day, somebody find breaks and loops in that song and call it "prog": it wouldn't be a surprise; after all, RADIOHEAD has the same prog level.
I thought we were supposed to talk about how good the album is, not how progressive it is...

KANSAS - Dust In The Wind (2002) Review by bob smith @ 11:44:42 AM EST, 4/30/2005
 — Backout Entertainment’s Album Featuring Sarah Brightman Delayed St. Petersburg, FL, March 1, 2005... Backout Entertainment’s new album has been pushed back. May 6 has been set as the new target release date. “Da Thiller” was originally set to be released on March 12. Due to the increasing demand for the internet downloads, Backout needed to go back to the studio and record two new bonus tracks which will be included in the album. The album features guest appearance from Sarah Brightman. Sarah Brightman is known for her angelic voice, numerous gold and platinum awards, and the ability to create new music genres. Internationally Known Sarah Brightman now has crossed over to the hip hop market. Featured in the song “Dust In The Wind” -originally recorded by Kansas. Sarah’s solo album “Eden” included the rerecorded song “dust in the wind” selling over 2 million copies worldwide
............................................................ ............................................................ ......................
Sarah Brightman's biggest fan, publicist and fantasist, methinks. Should be removed,if only for the remarkable statement:"Sarah Brightman is known for her angelic voice....and the ability to create new music genres"
And for the even more bizaare claim that Sarah has now crossed over to the hip-hop market ( !),where presumably she expects to pick up a couple of cheap dresses......

AMBROSIA - Life Beyond L.A. (1978) Review by pgm @ 12:01:30 PM EST, 4/30/2005
 — How can you go from an introspective, existentialist, progressive rock band to a Carpenters, elevator Musak in one album? Well here is a "how to " lesson from the folks that gave us this album. This album is right up there with the Captain and Tennille and the Carpenters. It just sucks. The producers of this album have castrated what was a great up and comer of a rock band at the time. Talk about disappointment
Something seems wrong with this, too.

GENESIS Foxtrot Review by Hally Hally Hassen Free @ 1:23:48 PM EST, 4/26/2005
 — I've always missed the excitement of GENESIS as a 70s prog rock icon. However, I would rate Nursery Crymes and Lamb Lies Down on Broadway as 5 stars on this board. Here in Afganistan the Taliban used the intro to "Watchers" to bring down the Bamiyan Buddhas.
This is obviously a joke review, and it deserves DELETION.

RUSH - Counterparts (1993) Review by Christopher Carr @ 5:06:56 PM EST, 4/29/2005
 — Any Rush album deserves a five star review... The only reason for it is: RUSH and no questions asked! True masters of their craft and virtuoso players they are. Their middle name is Change. the play with passion and their work are always the best...
I dunno, something just doesn't seem right...

PORCUPINE TREE - Deadwing (2005) Review by yankeehotelfoxtrot @ 4:56:35 PM EST, 4/29/2005
 — I am only familiar with Porcupine's latest three albums. However, I have just bought a couple of their older ones as I want to know much more about this incredibly band. Alongside Pearl Jam and Pink Floyd you do not get greater music than this (in my opinion) and Deadwing is indeed a masterpiece. I could not believe when a Danish newspaper gave this album 2 out of 6. I was shocked! I LOVE IT - and I always will. I could listen to it day in day out. Everyone should buy this album. I guarantee that it is worth every penny. The title track is one of the best tracks on the album but there are no bad tracks, seriously! If I had to say anything negative about this album I would have to think for hours - maybe days. I have got nothing but praise for Deadwing. Close your eyes and turn up the volume on your stereo. I promise, you will NOT get dissapointed...!

Two-star humour too, despite the (intended?) irony (music was banned under the Taliban).

It proofs once more that you can't trust p2p. Sorry, had to rectify this review by Rafael. It seems that more people have made this mistake. I can't really say something about this album, cause it isn't out yet until 7th of June. So that's why I gave no stars. But hell, DT knowing it will be great! ROXY MUSIC For Your Pleasure
Review by Josepet @ 6:56:07 AM EST, 3/7/2005
— I am afraid this site is losing its meaning more and more: I can not understand how this group and this album can be considered progressive at all. No way. Fun poppy stuff, sure. I am sure it is OK as background music while, let's say, you are cooking. But prog ????? There are many things I enjoy and I am not going to pretend they are progressive. Come on... We shall end up discussing wheter the Sex Pistols were an Art Rock band or not. |

I understand that the rules are simply that ALL reviews should be in English, like all posts in the forums.
...and that includes the above sentence...
However, I think this review, while wholly accurate and an honest if opinionated portrayal of the album stretches it a bit...

What are the rules on non-English reviews? I make an effort to make
sure that the English i write is understandable and not some illegible
mumbo jumbo. But I'd prefer even illegible English to a language I
don't understand at all!

JETHRO TULL - Thick As A Brick (1972) Review by Enrique Droguett @ 2:18:39 AM EST, 4/26/2005
Well, it's not that it's written in Spanish, is that, as any of the Spanish-speaking members can confirm, this is not a review at all. He starts stating that there are a lot of progheads in Chile, and that a friend told him that it was compulsory to own the best albums of the best bands... no need to translate the list... All the rest are amateurs in his oppinion, and all of them are English (!!!). Finally, he hopes somebody can translate his review...
It should be deleted. I agree with the rating to TAAB though...

 — I must say before i start I only listened to the song which was on the site, and it was great The different moods change, from soft sound to hard sound, quiet to loud, a real masterpice, you can rarely find them like this. It cannot really be related to something, maybe a bit Jethro tull listening to the flutes but that's just a piece of the world for example.
What a fool.....how can you review a cd that you've never listen...just one track.....stupid review !

Please, Anglagard has almost no relation with Jethro Tull, Anna's flute style is closer to Thijs Vsan Leer and sometimes to Peter Gabriel, but not to Ian Anderson.
Seems that for many people flute is synonim of Jethro Tull.
And the poor guy doesn't even tell us what's the name of the song
