About Greg Lake being member of the very early King Crimson, said by Charlotte Bates, Ian McDonald's girlfriend:
"Greg was a great big ego, a big penis on legs." LOL

(as quoted in David Weigel's The Show That Never Ends: The rise and fall of Prog Rock, 2017 p. 52)

Anyway I just love In the Wake of Poseidon. Maybe, just maybe I can understand the initial reaction by some fans of the debut while listening to this follow-up back in 1970. But from a 2024 perspective; is it really all that similar to In the Court? For me it's just a band sounding like themselves, and I hear or see nothing wrong with that. It's two albums made with a similar mindset - a mindset that I happen to love. It feels much like the Kid A/Amnesiac issue where the latter album is seen as b-sides and leftovers from the former. By some. Not me. I simply immerse myself in all of it as a whole body of work.

-If these songs were paintings hardly anyone would find it reasonable to dismiss the artist with a "my god this artist used color combinations and scenes in some paintings in their prior exhibition too".

In 2021, I said you could get Covid if you got the vax.   I said 500 million years of natural immunity evolution/Mother Nature was more efficient than Pfizer messenger RNA therapy.  My PA priviliges were cancelled.  No big deal. I'm lucky to be alive!Smile
I'm shocked to read this. Where I live these things are now finally openly discussed. In the mainstream if you will. Those who tried to completely shut down these discussions in 2021-2022 and wanted to take away privileges and freedom from those who were unwilling to take the vaccine etc... are no longer "the heroes of the story". They are in fact completely silent now. Hopefully ashamed.

I personally don't have a clue - or knowledge enough to even form a personal opinion. I just did what I was told and took all the vaccines like I was supposed to. I never felt like forcing others to go against their personal beliefs though. I saw some truly extreme behaviour from friends and acquaintances online during the covid years that changed my perception of them forever.

I love Poseidon overall but the first disc is a bit too uneven for my taste, so I'm going with Keith Tippett's beautiful sophomore album. This is a very strong collection of albums though; I like Twang Bar King and One Of A Kind very much too.

I would actually like In The Wake Of Poseidon more than the debut if it wasn't for The Devils Triangle. I feel there is more confidence and better playing on display but The Devils Triangle was just a bit of Robert Fripp filler imo. I'll vote for Bruford as that is a rare thing for me , a jazz fusion album I want to listen to!

Wanted to vote for the Wetton-Manzanera album, as that album is a misty-eyed guilty pleasure for me, but I cannot do so when Bruford's One of a Kind is an option!

^^ Best to just avoid those kinds of discussions here altogether and talk about the music, I feel. There are other places better suited to such discussions, imo, and there probably are some publications which might accept your peer reviewed articles on the matter. Or not necessarily peer reviewed.

Political discussions and controversial topics get very heated here and often do lead to personal attacks, so we decided to have a moratorium on political discussions (as it relates to music specifically is a different case). I wish we could more easily have a wider range of discussions without it leading to abuse via the forum guidelines. Also, I think we should be very careful about risking spreading disinformation and misinformation. COVID of course because of the possible ramifications is going to be a very sensitive subject and one needs to carefully handle it.

Back to the topic myself: Listening to that Keith Tippet Group album again, had been a while. I had expected that to have received more than John's vote by now.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

I fully agree with you. Maybe I will get banned for something now. Maybe I will appear on Ukraines kill list with Roger Waters. I worked in the medical field. Vaccines have never been safe and effective and never will be.

Back to the subject. Bruford gets my vote!

Cindy, you have tried voting again since I tried to reestablish your privileges, right? It is strange. I played no part in removing those privileges as I was on leave at the time, but I have tried multiple times to have you gain those privileges again. Maybe some of those took and others did not. I often get issues with time-outs in that part of the forum which may interfere with tasks being completed.

I would have thought you would at least have received warnings about posting that kind of thing beforehand. Two of our admin were medical professionals (doctor and a hospital nurse (ER?), I know you're a nurse too, so may be a moot point). I have read that more Doctors favoured vaccinations than nurses.
