I am not suggesting Firefox and noscript to everyone. The suggestion is for troubleshooting purposes. Noscript is the best program for toggling each script on and off one by one.

I do not wish to install Firefox or have any intrusive plug-ins to block or disable scripts. I want the site to work with a vanilla installations of IE and Chrome each time and every time, which is what every site on the Interweb should do.
Recently I haven't used the site enough to know whether the Error 500 and all the other irritations have been fixed, when there are problems with the site people use it less so there is less opportunity for me to post.
I still get timeouts when posting and I suspect I always will because sometimes I can take a very long time to compose a reply - using Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C to save a post before hitting [Post Reply] has become second nature to me, but having to do that is annoying and it should be unnecessary.
However the time-interval between first loading a page and getting a timeout message when attempting to post a reply has been becoming alarmingly short - often this mere seconds, which is as near as damn it instantaneous. This is enough to make the site unfriendly and practically unusable.

Thanks! One suggestion, install Firefox with noscript. One by one, you can manually allow each script to execute. I do not know much about your setup or if this will help, but I have not experienced the issue.

I hope you bring back the most popular artists. I do not get the 500 - Internal server error, but I use noscript with Firefox and block several scripts.

Not to jinx it, but I haven't had the problem today or yesterday.

I spoke too soon. Very slow responses at the moment and just go the 500 error again.

For my sake the site loads like the data is filtered through rather thick molasses.

I've not had the 500 error again since I reported it but am still losing a few posts to the dreaded permissions error.

Indeed. Frankly, the forums are much worse for me then the main site in regard to this issue.
(Had another bout of it this afternoon)

It seems to come in waves...ie for an hour or two it will be difficult to open pages, post, etc but then (for seemingly no reason) it'll be normal for a period of time. |
I don't want to jinx it, but it's been pretty good since I've posted this.
