This thread and it's included lists simply remind me how much new progressive music I should be investigating!

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Cool to see French TV getting several mentions. Very accessible album from them.

2021 has been and is shaping up to be an incredible year for music.

Favorite releases (some are prog, some sorta prog, some not particularly prog)
1: black midi - Cavalcade (and it's a distant 1st place, being honest)
2: L.W. - King Gizzard

Not going to attempt to rank these next ones, but I really enjoy all of them

For the First Time - Black Country New Road
SHYGA! - Psychedelic Porn Crumpets
Tell Me If You Get Lost - Tyler the Creator
Crash of the Crown - Styx
Without Notice - Bend The Future
Fortitude - Gojira
Afrique Victime - Mdou Moctar
Daddys Home - St Vincent
Helloween - Self Titled
Kingdom of Oblivion - Motorpsycho
Point of Know Return Live and Beyond - Kansas

It's also pretty bizarre that this year we're going to be seeing new releases from Yes, Jethro Tull and Caravan

So far I think this year's shaping up better than the last one. Not every year can be a 2019. The new Rascal Reporters release did not disappoint and I'm looking forward to the new Missigno album too (and very much to the new Devilish Dear album but that's not really prog).

My favourite prog albums of this year so far (I've heard most of these just once up until now so my opinion may change in the future):
- Monobody - Comma
- Black Midi - Cavalcade
- The Fourth World Quartet - 1975
- Desertion Trio - Numbers Maker
- Real Loud - Real Loud
- Mahogany Frog - In The Electric Universe
- Sun Colored Chair - Seated
- Cody Carpenter - Memories And Dreams

This is what I've come up with so far, but there is a lot I still have to listen to.

In no particular order....

French TV - All Our Failures are Behind Us  French TV (bandcamp.com)
Beautiful Bedlam - Beautiful Bedlam  Beautiful Bedlam | Beautiful Bedlam (bandcamp.com)
Black Midi - Cavalcade  Spotify – Cavalcade
Fovea Hex - The Salt Garden (Landscaped)  The Salt Garden (Landscaped) | Fovea Hex (bandcamp.com)
Kurushimi - Chaos Remains  Kurushimi (bandcamp.com)
Frequency Eater - Engulf  Engulf | Frequency Eater (bandcamp.com)

Worst of the year:

Excuse me if this has already been posted. Anyway, I think 2021 has been another slow year for prog. 2019 was the ultimate year in prog for me. So, what are your favorite prog releases of 2021? I'm still waiting for the new Ske. I have a very short list.

1. Transatlantic - The Absolute Universe - Forevermore (Extended Version)
2. French TV - All Our Failures are Behind Us
3. Lyle Workman - Uncommon Measures
4. Dewa Budjana - Naurora
5. MFTJ - My Mom's Getting a Horse
