Camel for me. If it had been the first 3 GG albums I might have had a more difficult time deciding, but still it should have been Camel.

I've also found Gentle Giant's albums underwhelming. I've given most of them 2 listens each

Well, we all know what listening to an album only once is worth.

Gentle Giant aren't for everyone, just as Camel isn't for everyone. Giant gets my vote overwhelmingly.

At least you listened, Paul.

Yes, nothing ventured, nothing gained, as they say, and Cristi warned me in advance that I probably wouldn't acquire the taste for Gentle Giant, so I wasn't too disappointed by them when my expectations were already low to begin with. On a positive note though, at least I'll be able to take part in Gentle Giant polls from now on, including this one. Smile

I only knew that a band like Gentle Giant is not your thing, not your kind of band. Therefore your so called "low expectations" make no sense to me. Confused

This forum is probably littered with people who now love Gentle Giant but who did not get on with them on first hearing, and I’d include myself in that number. Of course nobody is obliged to like them, but “I listened to them once and didn’t like it, so I’ll sh*t-rate them in polls forevermore” is a bit of a…superficial…approach.

thank you for saying that.
I could not have worded better, I really couldn't. LOL

Gentle Giant, but there's not a lot in it. In general I agree that GG were more adventurous musically, but David Bedford's orchestral arrangements for The Snow Goose showed a more exploratory side to Camel.

The first two by both bands (in that run) are great but then IAGH just leaves me cold. If it was TPATG I would feel very different. Camel on the other hand did a perfect album run that for me is the best by any band of any genre.

Easily Camel.

My Gentle Giant trio would be Octopus/In a Glass House/The Power and the Glory (my favorite).

Even so I would choose Camel.
