I am not sure about the Fkings but DT tend to do this in albums like 'six degrees..'
I don't think it works

Genesis-great live band but record output sometimes leaves a lot to be desired. And I'm talking about Gabriel era.
Gentle Giant-Medieval sounding rock did nothing for me.
King Crimson-Just never got it with them. They leave me so cold.
Rush-Where did it all go wrong after Moving Pictures?

Now, there are some arguments...

I know others like them so there must be something there but I have never been able to get into Marillion at all.

I still don't know it ELP is going to do that for me... If they do, then they are definitively gonna go into my personal "world greatest band" cathegory... (search previous posts for an explanation on this subject)...

Man, I really have tried, but i just can't stand BANCO. My least favourite italian group.
I agree with the Genesis critics: a band that, in their best albums, have a lot of ups and downs.
Dream Theater and Flower Kings really sucks; they're desperately trying to sound prog showing in public their "mastery" in their instruments.

What have Sledgehammer and Mike and the Mechanics got to do with Genesis as a prog band?

I've only heard a couple of cuts from it but from what I've heard, PFM's Come Ti Va in Riva Alla Citta is pretty bad and they've done some wonderful things....It's really not fair to use the "worst" label.
Just MHO....

I think this is a really bad thread, as I think that every band has
their good and bad points and to this kind of criticism isn't
particularly constructive and just puts people and bands down.

yeap, good point.
Phil, have you tried to listen carefully to 'Images and words' and 'Metropolis pt.2'?
I am just suggesting these two as their masterpieces. Of course 'Awake' is the next in line

Hmm... Guess it's Dream Theater. They have a couple nice songs, but they're only trying to be prog. I've never heard something totally lousy, but Dream Theater just isn't that good. |
Yeah they are trying to be prog...
keep in mind they are one of the first prog metal bands...
