Genesis - The Lamb...
Pink Floyd - The Wall (disc one is phenomenal, disc two -- meh, apart from "Hey You" and "Comfortably Numb")
Dream Theater - SFAM (OK, not really a double album, but it would have been if vinyl was still the medium of choice)
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists...(been checking out the post-rock genre lately, and this album is a brilliant marriage of "creepy" and "beautiful")

I now realize I don't really have very many double albums that aren't live.

Not prog......The Pentateuch of the Cosmogony.............reasonably good music, but there ain't a better sleeve or booklet anywhere in this world than on this.

Works vol 1 - ELP

The Wall - Pink Floyd

This may sound dumb (in fact many of you will agree), but i still visualise an album as being on vinyl.

  1. Genesis - The Lamb
  2. The Flower Kings - Unfold The Future
  3. The Flower Kings - Stardust We Are
  4. The Flower Kings - Flower Power
  5. Pink Floyd - The Wall
  6. Yes - Tales
  7. Camel - The best of Camel (if that counts)
  8. ELO - Out Of The Blue
  9. Spock's Beard - Snow
  10. Dream Theater - Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence (would almost have fitted on 1 CD)

Can't think of any other double album (except Frankie Goes To Hollywood, but that was a long time ago)

Testimony by Neal Morse,

Snow by Spock's Beard,

Subterranea by IQ,

The Human Equation by Ayreon,

and Tyranny and Room V by Shadow Gallery (if you connect the two, they truly are a double album).

there are indeed not many double albums, if only studio counts. most live albums are doubles though. I'll name some hardly anyone named before:
Amon Düül 2 - Tanz der Lemminge. fits on only one CD, but was originally released as a double album (back in the time when there was only vinyl)Klaus Schulze - Cyborg
Klaus Schulze - X
Tangerine Dream - Zeit
Volker Kriegel - Inside: Missing Link
Grobschnitt - Ballermann

Oh, and "The Fall of the House of Usher" by Peter Hammill appeared on one CD, but with almost 78 minutes it is longer than some double albums.
