I go for "The End" amazing track easily Doors' best. Though I would not even consider calling The Doors' music prog...

The Doors may not be prog, but a few of their songs definitely show some proggish features. IMO the proggiest of their tracks is Riders on the Storm, followed of course by The End and When the Music's Over.

Hello Andrea.

Spanish caravan is amazing, first that flamenco guitar intro and then a sultry atmosphere, blended with Morrison his melancholical vocals and fiery electric guitar, SPLENDID!

The end and When the music's over are two compelling progrock compositions (shifting moods, dramatic build -up and climax, excellent), Light my fire Live is an exciting progrock track (stunning organ peformance by Ray Manzarek).

Let's not forget Riders on the storm, another progrock song by The Doors featuring wonderful Fender Rhodes piano and warm vocals by the late Jim (#3 after Jimi and Janis).

Keep on proggin' with The Doors!!

There are lots of great pieces from The Doors!Thumbs Up

Absolutely Live (1970) is miliar stone of the music's history! I'm speaking about the highest standard of imagination and stunning ideas from Jim Morrison and co.

People, don't reduce the word PROG to your own copyright!!!!!

'Spanish Caravan' is their proggiest moment- there's some wonderful interplay between guitar and keyboard there.

Riders on the storm is one of my all-time favourite songs, and one of those songs that you can call prog if you want. That does not mean though that the Doors a re a prog rock band (e.g. Dire Straits and Meat Loaf recorded songs that I would call prog, but no-one would advocate their presence on this site).

When The Music's Over for me ... and I'll agree that Not To Touch The Earth has some progressive tendancies (they are both in my Top 5 Doors songs) ...

The album An American Prayer, which is basically Morisson poetry with backing by the Doors, might appeal to some proggers ...

Other Voices-1971 (this one is good).

Full Circle-1972 (never listened to).

Just because they have keyboards doesnt makes them prog!

You think you have a positive definition for the word "prog"...?

Ok, prog is an european phenomenon, is Yes (80s apart), is Genesis (Collins apart), is Jethro Tull (80s apart) is Queen (only for Queen II and A NIght At The Opera) but, I repeat, this is THEIR prog, not THE prog:

in fact prog is a conventional word. Its definition depends on how strictly or largely you're trying to give it some contents!!!

My fav songs by the Doors are: Riders On The Storm, Love Me Two Times, Break On Through, People Are Strange, Roadhouse Blues and Light My Fire. But I consider none of them prog at all.
The only song, IMO, that sounds like prog by the Doors is:

spanish caravan's intro was taken from a song by isaac albeniz called leyenda. its a piece for classical guitar and its really fantastic

I love the whispered vocals, guitar riffs and the overall sound of the keyboards in "Riders On The Storm".

Totally.  Weren't the Doors one of the first groups to use moogs?  I read this somewhere, but I don't know any songs that have the moog on them.

I think this peace of 17min (less or more in different live rec.) could be called prog, THE END could be prog rock in some kind of way as well... but I cant agree thet they are prog-rock, though I worship them.
