Do we realise this or are we happy Floydians and don't mind about money?

	I've noticed that too. Especially when "Pulse" was released. They do the same thing with The Beatles. Every few years there is a new package.

	i know what you mean... look as long as they will release "A delicate sound of thunder" in DVD and full of extras...i don`t mind paying.. and if they released another DVd with a great concert from the Animals era ..then i will gladly pay again... :O)

	You either buy something or you don't. Personally I have 3 Floyd albums including Pulse. That's enough fro me.

	My opinion about this kind of stuff is: the more material they make available, the more you can choose from. Of course they're trying to get money, that's their business, but they don't put a gun on your head. If you're not interested you don't have to buy it. But it's good to have that extra material available and it helps to get new people interested in Floyd music.

	There's few things I agree about with Mr Johnny Rotten, but I'll always remember the Sex Pistols recorded a single sneering at EMI, and I've always disliked the way EMI rip off music fans. As I said in my original reaction to this new release, just a few days ago: "I've always been mad at EMI for not releasing THE PIPER with at least 'Arnold Layne' and 'See Emily Play' as bonus tracks. (Or SGT. PEPPER with 'Strawberry Fields Forever' and 'Penny Lane' as bonus tracks.) Moreover, to add insult to injury, for about twenty years they never charged less than £12 (which is now around $24!) for these albums in British record stores. Wonder what they're gonna charge for this new collection!"

	Well, these bands are cash cows to their record companies. In other words, guaranteed income. And the musicians probably aren't complaining, with their retirement checks getting fatter and fatter (and who can blame them? not me). I've actually never owned Piper, so I may even consider picking it up Still, I do get tired of the seemingly endless remasters, box sets, best of's, etc., etc. ad infinitum, that comes out for the biggest and most "legendary" bands. But people must be buying them, or they wouldn't keep doing it. And I think it is important for new fans to be able to discover them.

	When it comes to stuff like that, I usually just end up getting it off Limewire. I don't really care to waste my money on a few more tracks of an album I have.

	The trick by record companies is often to seduce the Floydians with some previously unreleased tracks/footage on every compilation/new version of old albums so I disagree with the statement that "you are free to buy it or not", they excatly know how to manipulate the wealthy middle class Floydian who eagerly waits for that kind of material. And what about the policy to put an abridged version of Echoes on the 2-CD disc set Echoes ? Sex sells ! Edited by erik neuteboom - June 20 2007 at 17:46

	I'm actually not too upset about the PATGOD remaster because it's much more than just the typical new packaging plus useless extras moneymaking deal. EMI (and Floyd themselves with the live albums) does milk them, but I don't think this is the same (as compared to the various versions of DSOTM). You should be much more upset about the constant Yes editions and their completely useless extras (Woo, a studio runthrough of the song on the album that sounds almost exactly the same except with worse sound quality--and what's this? The single version of a song on the album. What joy!).

	it seems to me that sucessful yet non-conforming bands convert to money grubbing as they age. Perhaps thats just a side effect of greedy management by record execs, because i dont think Nick Mason is the marketing genius behind the Copper Edition 18th re-released DSOTM CD. 	Yeah, have to agree. I'm disappointed they didn't put much rare material on this Piper set. There is a wealth of previously unreleased material out there from this era and all they put on the 3rd disc AFAIK was singles that had been out on that 'First Three Singles' set and alternate takes of 'Apples and Oranges' and 'Interstellar Overture'- is it only me that has no real interest in these 'alternate takes'?? I've rarely heard one that wasn't inferior to the take which was widely released.

	^ Yep, I don't think that there is much "new" old Floyd out there, not that there was very much in the first place. I'd like to see some of the old bootlegs (sorry RoIOs) being aquired by EMI and given a proper (Gilmour-remastered) release. I'd quite like a legal version of Ravin' an' Droolin' and the full length Embryo

	I don't mind it Erik, We all have a choice ourselves here. I have all the regular stuff from Floyd, but not collections like "Great dance songs" or obscure bootleg material etc. I also don't have Live at Pompeii i need to pick this up asap it's marvellous.
