Well done!  Once you enter our lovely town, there's no turning back...

It's good to be back - I need a holiday to recover from my holiday - one where I don't have to drive anywhere.

Welcome back Dean - hope you're feeling all rested (hmmm - driving holiday in England...? Rested....? )

Correction - you have my sympathies; have a hug (purely platonic, of course )

Oh dear - the struck out word above indicates to me you may not be 100% enamoured of your daughter's choice of paramour... tell us more; we won't say a word.

did most of the driving through Brittany, which was oddly relaxing (like Cornwall but without the traffic) - 'twas the drive to and from Poole that did it for me, I keep forgetting how congested & claustrophobic our roads are compared to anywhere else. (Just don't mention caravans. Angry)

Quite the contary on the boyfriend front - the first one of her's I've actually likedWink, but I couldn't face the 4 hour round-trip to take him home so felt a little guilty for letting him take the train.

Well, I've filled his head with Prog over the past week, so who knows, we may have another convert.

Anywho, the garden hasn't taken a holiday, the grass is knee-high to the cats, the damson, plum and apple trees are overloaded with fruit and I've never seen the fushia's with so many flowers before. I hacked our buddleia back to about 4 foot at the beginning of the spring and it's now over 10 again, so I think yours may be in terminal decline Jim.

Back to the Fish & Heather Findlay comment several 100 pages back, as far as I know Heather called off the wedding a couple of months ago (http://www.the-company.com/email/e2007-05-30.htm), which was sad because Fish's blog on the engagement was very touching.

I've not seen that before - that's a very frank and open explanation re the wedding cancellation; I guess that's what's known as wearing your heart (of Lothian??) on your sleeve.

That reminds me of our holiday in Brittany a few years back. We drove around for 2 weeks and only came across 1 set of road works which (weren't causing any holdups), then as soon as we got off the ferry in Portsmouth... straight into a major jam.

Same thing when we were in Newfoundland this summer - looooong highways with very little traffic (or tarmac, in a lot of cases ); what is it though with these countries with long straight highways & virtually no traffic that they feel the need for ridiculously low speed limits (60 mph on Nfld)??

60 MPH slow?

It's a safe speed to drive, Jim.  Just 'cause you lust over Petey's Kawasaki, doesn't mean you can ride with him in the Newfoundland sun on a long and distant highway... dreaming about sheds.

"two days after the invitations were sent out". Ouch!

There's a short interview with Fish in Classic Rock this month. He talks about the change of support band on his tour and asks them not to mention Heather by name (although they do anyway). Understandably this is a bit of a sore subject for him.

I think it's been a hard time for the guy , we went to the (non) wedding turned album launch party, a very odd day indeed.......although I must say the album (13th Star) is INCREDIBLE, and as usual for Fish, all the better for a little heartache!!!

Did he still do his PlanetRock show during all this as well?  I remember hearing it a while back and he was playing a demo of a track from his then forthcoming album.  If he was still doing that, then that's dedication indeed.

Trust me, when you are on a highway where you can see to the horizon in both directions, and there is no other traffic at all, 60 mph seems mighty slow...

As far as lusting over PR's Kwaka is concerned, my biking days are well behind me (16 years to be precise); I have neither the inclination or the courage to do so these days - your average car driver wouldn't notice a bright orange elephant covered in twinking lights in his rear view mirror, let alone a motorbike.

Is it just me, or is that BBC trailer with those women with lawnmowers really rather freaky?  It's an odd choice for a trailer, that's all I can say.  The other trailer isn't bad though, 'cause of the proggy flute.

Yes I am waffling.

Dean, Toyah has an album coming out later this year, just so you know. Wink

Nope, she mentioned it on The One Show earlier.

Unless of course, I'm Toyah's personal assistant... which I'm not.  I don't think I'd want to be either, not even with Bob Fripp sitting about.

And yes, I do know what you're on about.  Her one hit wonder tune... although she did cover Greg Lake's Christmas song that was written for him by Pete Sinfield. LOL
