Topic: Band without album under average quality! Posted: February 27 2009 at 13:26 |
Magma is also a band with one of the most consistant streak of incredible albums... and they're STILL puting out music.

Devin Townsend has, in my opinion, not made a single weak solo album. Porcupine Tree would also fit, if not for In Absentia and Deadwing ruining their track record.

Rush Henry Cow Frank Zappa (none are under average, there are just some that I don't like as much) The Mars Volta Ozric Tentacles King Crimson Echolyn Gryphon Univers Zero (probably)
Close, but no cigar: Porcupine Tree (except the debut) Magma (except MercI)
There may be some others I'm not thinking of.

The Tangent and Transatlantic are the only ones I can think of although they both have made few albums.

Besides the big three from Eclectic I would add Tribal Tech , Vital Information , The Tangent , Porcupine Tree and Rush.
The Soft Machine is another valid choice , their weaker albums are 3.5 stars to me

Sorry, didnt mean to upset you.
I will admit that I've only listened too it twice. Maybe I should go back and give it another chance since I love them so much. My favorite is "Born Into Trouble as Sparks Fly Upwards."

The Decemberists The Mars Volta Oceansize Sleepytime Gorilla Museum
I haven't heard PG 2 or some of his soundtracks, but it seems like he could easily belong on this list.

^Yes, Tool are my favorite band, but their early work was anything but above-average. Pretty generic stuff, if you ask me. They only began to blossom with AEnima, so in my view, they aren't a band that has been all that consistant throughout their career.

Sorry, just saw a few in there that I really like but consider really uneven. I'm that silly fool who gave TPE five stars and Remedy Lane two. Tool is another one, I really like them, but I honestly don't think I've listen to any of their early albums through in their entirety (including Aenima). Great songs on them, but.....
And I felt ashamed not to have remembered Mr. Bungle as a fanboy, 3 awesome albums, significantly different sound. All 4+ stars.
Sorry I didn't mean to target you, just bands that I feel strongly about.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I love A Silver Mt Zion, but they have released one or two albums that make me cringe (13 blues for thirteen moons and This is our Punk Rock)
