Get Phallus Dei , the version with bonus tracks which is beautifully crafted. Also it's a very interesting starting point if you haven't got into the german stuff yet.

Congratulations!
I recommended Space Revolver for you, because it's my favorite out of those I know on your list.
It really depends on what you are in the mood for, though. I go through phases when I collect music. Most recently it has been Prog, in many of its forms. More recently, though, it was Jazz, and before that, Classical. Are you in any particular mood? Remember, what you don't buy now, will be available for your purchase later on.

Grave New World.
If you can get the vinyl for the artwork alone, it's worth it. It's an astonishing album anyway; a concept album of the journey through life and with astonishing variety of styles. |

I voted Samla Mammas Manna, though Amon Duul II would have been a great choice too.

If you like beautiful and melodic music(i know you do) take Finnforest's advise and get one of PFM's early classic cds. You'll seriously wonder why it took you so long. |

Gnidrolog- In Spite Of Harry's Toe-Nail/Lady Lake - that's two classics for the prize of one. Many seem to prefer the latter, but In Spite is their fivestar-masterpiece for me.

Gnidrolog is my second choice on hat list before Srtrawbs and ADII, but behind Samla's Maltid.
Hands down the winner, becaise I think Gnidrolog's two album deserve their own discs each.

You being a prog musician and all I'd have to say Willowglass- Book of Hours it has a mystical vibe relaxing engaging and still progressive .. hard to explain you need to hear it I was very pleasantly surprised when I did.

I don't know how much Krautrock you have heard - I have heard very few albums myself to be fair - so my recommendation of Phallus Dei depends on that. Failing that, Grave New World is my next pick, beautiful album that you can't go wrong with.

Of these I think I'd recommend for you these albums in the order you've listed them: Strawbs, then Gnidrolog.... Actually, I don't have that WIllowglass one though I'm sure I've heard samples.
My favourites of these are Malted, Phallus' Day Out (in honour of a recent nude bicycle-riders parade in Vancouver), and In Spite of Hairy Toe-Jam/ Lady Leak. Did you listen to the streaming mp3s? Here's a great one to try from SMM (if you don't like this, then I wouldn't recommend the album -- hope the link works): CLICK Edited by Logan - June 14 2009 at 14:58 |

Space Revolver. A great modern symphonic album from one of the masters in the modern prog field.

Thanks for your help everyone!
Due to availability issues, I have selected Willowglass's Book of Hours (gotta have some symph, yes?) and something to expand my horizons: Amon Duul II's Yeti. I think I will enjoy both (I listened to Amon Duul II's samples here, and liked what I heard). |

So the two lowest voted bands on the poll, nice.
![]() That being said, regarding Yeti, I think you'll be happy with the purchase. It's some incredibly well crafted stuff, and the improv stuff is at least at the same level as the studio work. |

It's at the end of the album - so you can just hit "stop". ![]() Actually really good album, there - be curious to read your opinion. |
