 Topic: Concert without keyboard

Why do these concerts have no keyboards, while the studio versions of the songs obviously have keyboards sections?
King Crimson - Eyes Wide Open Line-up / Musicians - Robert Fripp / guitars - Pat Mastelotto / drums - Adrian Belew / guitar, vocals - Trey Gunn / bass
Rush - Live in Rio Line-up / Musicians
- Geddy Lee / vocals, basses, keyboards
- Alex Lifeson / guitars, vocals
- Neil Peart / drums, percussion
Since Geddy Lee can't play two instruments at once, who's playing the keyboards when he's playing the bass?

Obviously you've never heard of guitar effects.

Geddy Lee uses MIDI pedals to set off canned sound effects during songs while he plays bass. This includes keyboard sounds and backup vocals.

No I haven't. I heard gentle string sounds on the King Crimson DVD, but all I saw was Robert Fripp on his guitar. So the string sound was coming from Fripp ??

Watch the DVD again. Take a look at the Introductory Soundscape on the 2003 concert. You'll notice Fripp sparsely playing his guitar while dialing in on the numerous devices pictured below:  Since the early 90s, Fripp has employed this combination of harmonizers, delays and guitar synth pedals to go beyond the standard fuzztone sound of yore.

I see, is this some kind of trick question? Hmmm???  How about transposition of parts keeps the music fresh?

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Saw Todd Rundgren recently ... and the other guitarist was playing all the keyboard parts ... strings and all, too!
It's too easy now ... all you have to do is plug the guitar to this and that and this and that ... and voila, you have an orchestra!
The problem is ... sometimes it does not sound right, however, it is always interesting to hear different versions of the same thing ... gosh, I was weened on what ... like 10 versions of Atom Heart Mother and 15 versions of Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun!
And I like the differences! ... it always prevenst the song from getting boring to your inner mind ... and next time you hear it, you can see something else ... that might have come out of the connection between the different versions ... and this adds a 3rd dimention to music that ... is immense and totally far out.
