Maybe if we convince him to change his name to Bjorkethead. Otherwise I've lost any faith that he will be added.

Hey guys, long time lurker first time poster.
To the OP - fear not, a large part of what he does is not technical at all. A full discography can be found here (updated regularly): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckethead_discography Some of his more progressive sounding tracks from the top of my head; His Michael Jackson tribute (Bucket is a huge fan): http://bucketheadland.com/01_The_Landing_Beacon.mp3 There's literally thousands more where they came from. But no one wants to put his whole discography on here... Can't blame them actually but it'd still be nice.

Kaleidoscalp is my favourite. The Inbred Mountain Trilogy is great too if you use your imagination to find out whats happening. He used to be my favourite person ever, and he's still one of my favourites. I think he's most definitely prog and should be on this site.

I wonder if he's Crossover. I don't know his work at all, so I don't know, just raising the question if somebody has something to say about it.

I saw him live once, at the...uh...International Progressive Music Festival in San Francisco 1999. Bondage Fruit, Par Lindh, Brand X, Gong, Rocket Scientists, Buckethead, Porcupine Tree, Magma. He is the only one in the lineup not in the archives.

LOL. Get A Real Diamond in the Rough and the Deli Creeps album first. Those are both incredible. |

Huge buckethead fan here. I love all his music, but I prefer his more atmospheric work to his shredder albums. The guy has a twisted type of humor and uses somewhat disturbing themes at times. Great stuff.
Some of my favorites by him: A Real Diamond in the Rough: Contains some of the most emotional playing I've heard and uses absolutely haunting melodies. Decoding the Tomb of Bansheebot: One of his heavier albums, contains some really fantastic shredding and soloing. Dawn of the Deli Creeps: With the band Deli Creeps. Just the craziest shiz. Sort of a concept album about a murderous butcher in his day to day life. It's so good it's scary. Edited by Evolutionary Sleeper - September 30 2010 at 18:52 |

I think that discography I linked to is a little out of date. It ends abruptly in 2009. The guy replaced Stab

Oh-kay. How many albums has this guy've been working on anyway ? 100 ? 200 ? Is there someone knowing them all ? Somebody obsessed with him ? :-D or at least closing to it. I never heard more than one album or so, but this sheer body of work is fascinating me. And of course, things people say about him.

We've had Buckethead threads before.
Yeah, I went on a Buckethead binge a few years ago. Still hungover. Looks like my last new title was added in 2005. I've got nine. He's got quite a range from the mellow to the metal. By the way, have you ever checked out his discography?: http://www.bingeandgrab.com/discography_years.html Also has a pretty cool web site: http://www.bucketheadland.com/ Edited by Slartibartfast - September 30 2010 at 05:57 |

Buckethead is a progressive artist in my book. Not all of his albums constitute progressive music, but his stylistic exploration, concept orientation and compositional awareness make him a wonderful fit for the site. Kaleidoscalp is an outstanding progmetal album. If I'm not mistaken he has performed on over 100 albums. He has been discussed here many times 2 years ago when I spent more time here, but the arguments have fallen on deaf ears.

So I´m getting into Buckethead and I noticed there is no post (that I could find) in this site. What do you think of him? Specially, but not only, guitarists!
I like his stuff, but like with a lot of technical stuff it can get a bit too much after a while. |
