I don't think TMV are hated all that much, I think they're a very polarizing band. Love it or hate it, you know? I love them. and these days they soar above PTree for me. Which is odd since I always thought TMV would be one of those bands I would love for a month and then forget.

Porcupine Tree. Easy choice for me. Although TMV have some great songs to their name, a whole album of that formula is too much for my ears.

I thought there'd be more Mars Volta fans. I voted PT because that's how I roll, but I thought they'd be too simplistic for you lot.
MV could be amazing, but they're just too cluttered. They've got a complete dedication to making sure that making sure absolutely every empty space gets filled with some sort of noise. De-Loused is an excellent album marred by stupid noises going on constantly because there's apparently not enough going on already.

PT. I haven't the slightest idea what Cedric is talking about, all I know is that I can't take it seriously. Lopez is a good guitarist though.

TMV by far! One of my favorit modern bands, PT is the most boring and unintresting of all modern prog bands they bore me to tears and put me to sleep, how something so usles and unintresting and unorginal culd get so popular is a true mystery.

PT: Fine, ok, not bad.
TMV: Interesting, annoying, creative, surprising, changing, provoking, brutal, smooth. FANTASTIC.
Regarding the lyrics, sometimes people say TMV i stupid. Im lucky, im not a native, i dont even try to understand.
But one thing is for sure : I'll never....never sleep alone.

I'm starting to get into The Mars Volta more and more, but PT still is one of my favorites.

This thread begs the question: would Porcupine Tree make a better album than Deloused with Rick Rubin as the producer?

The Mars Volta mainstream? Really?
Love both...

i'm living on this planet since 1953 , and been following all the way since 1967 the majority of bands active since then . in my humble opinion the Porcupines can beat any other band on this site ! sorry , this is written on my book !
