John Bonham was always the best for me.
And then one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun

As get comments that stylize Peart to be the überdrummer.

Yet, I note that in this thread, not one single person has exhibited the sycophantic behavior that bothers you so.

This.

Also,
Comments about how 100 drummers are better than Peart appear just as frequently and are just as annoying OMG PERAT IS GOD LOLAOWLRO!#!!!!

I never said anything like that. All I am saying is that comments like "Peart, who else?" which you will find by the dozen in the archives' many drum polls are not justified at all; there are a lot of excellent drummers out there, and comments like that are an insult to them. And don't say "there are no such comments in the archives"; the archives are full of comments like that.

So? It happens with so much more than just Peart.

I can think of 100 bands immensely better than Yes or ELP or Kansas. If I started a poll between them and any of the 3 person after person would say.

Yes, who else?

In fact, I just did a poll where that happened.

The point is it happens with everything. Tastes are tastes. It's frustrating, but it's not really worth getting frustrated about.

Tastes are definitely tastes; I already stated so.  But you are missing the point. I on't give a damn if someone prefers peart as a drummer. But I care a lot if other drummers are being belittled.
Your example misses the point; it picks one of three. But I am talking about picking one out of all the drummers on PA,. Once again, if he is your favourite - fine, nothing against that. But it shows a deep disrespect to all the other drummers to say something like that.

No it doesn't. It shows they like Peart more. Replace my example with Yes and 100 other bands I find to be better. Do you think a poll that pits Yes vs Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Protest the Hero, Merzbow, Tunnels, blah blah blah still wouldn't be a blow out? With the same comments.

Peart would top my top 5 list. I would go as far to say it's not even close. I like his style of drumming. Lot's of users here are new and are hearing Neil Peart compared to modern rock bands on the local station. Lot's of them are just begining to explore Prog. They're making judgements from what they know. Given what they know, It may be laughable to suggest anyone except Peart as their number one. Don't take that as disrespect.

I disagree. Then they could simply say "Peart". But "Who else?" indicates that Peart is a kind of superman against which all other drummers dwindle in comparison,, and that is an insult. Interestingly you will rarely find this kind of comment about any other drummer, but there are lot of comments like this from the Peart fan-club. Trust me on that; I am an avid reader of drum polls since I am a drummer myself.

No it really doesn't. It indicated they greatly prefer Peart to anybody else. Frankly, I find your contention that the totality of Neil Peart fans contains a higher percentage of people making those comments to be absurd. Something about his drumming attracts those people?

I guess I should actually provide a list. I hate making lists for favorite musicians.

1) Neil Peart, who else?
2) Joey Baron
3) Max Roach
4) Robert Wyatt
5) Guy Evans

Browse the archives; it is far from absurd. Or I will browse them and give you examples of what I mean; examples which clearly belittle other drummers and make an Übermensch out of Peart.. And then I challenge you to find similar examples for other drummers - you will be hard-pressed to find them,.

I simply refuse to believe you will find posts that belittle other drummers. Well, not many any road.

Care the explain any possible factors that would cause a person to be a Neil Peart fan and make derisive remarks about other drummers more so than fans of any drummer besides Neil Peart?

No I don't need to see examples from that highly scientific sampling process you suggest. The assumption is absurd.

When you go to grab your examples can you also grab examples of Peart haters needlessly insulting other's opinions?

Once again; I am not a Peart hater. I just don't make an überdrummer out of him.
