He nailed Trump on all his failings with facts where Trump only had lies to cast out of desperation. Trump did come off as the aggressor, but only out weakness and fear. Now, lets bring on Harris/Pence. | Essentially, by badly misunderestimating Biden, the Right could not convincingly claim victory after the debate. Because they had set the bar so low that Biden easily cleared it. Biden was supposed to collapse in a mess being incapable of saying a word without a teleprompter. So when instead he managed to land a few folksy punches, it put Trump on the defensive. This was a 'new' side of Trump and his ugliest. He was downright patronizing and condescending to Biden, particularly in the beginning, and Biden didn't fail to exploit it by saying people like Trump have always looked down their nose on working class Irish Catholics like him. I felt Biden had smart arguments and some decent one liners but the delivery lacked punch. But it does appear to have been enough to deny Trump the debate win he thought was certain to be his.

Doesn't the BDSM crowd have a shocking c*"k ring that can be put on Trump? By the look of his hands it would have to be a very small one.

Apparently someone likes my mic cutoff idea:
Hours after the nation endured perhaps the most chaotic presidential debate in U.S. history, the Commission on Presidential Debates announced that it would impose “additional structure” in an effort to “maintain order” at the two remaining forums before Election Day.
“Last night’s debate made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues,” said Wednesday’s statement by the Commission on Presidential Debates, the nonprofit corporation that oversees debate rules. “The CPD will be carefully considering the changes it will adopt and will announce those measures shortly.”
Citing “an informed source,” CBS News correspondent Norah O’Donnell reported Wednesday that the changes under consideration included cutting off a candidate’s microphone should new debate rules not be followed.

Evidently, the debate organizers will not allow the same asinine fiasco again. I wonder if they'll have microphone muting. Personally, I'd prefer they use electric cattle prods....

All I can say is thank goodness that after the votes are counted, if Trump loses he automatically has no authority whether he refuses to step down or not.

^ That only holds if the undecided voters' better angels come out on Election Day. Do they want a befuddled if kind old man as president ? I'm not so sure. I hope so.

Not at all happy with Biden's performance. He is in an impossible situation, but that aside, he seemed weak, flustered, and confused. I'm thinking the Harris/Pence debates may be better.

QUOTE=Davesax1965]One habit I've found Americans have is that everything is examined in minute detail. I don't honestly think the debates will have much effect on the polls: everyone has made their minds up or aren't revealing who they're voting for. If you look at the 5 38 polls, Trump's popularity has actually gone up since his financial affairs were revealed, so it makes no sense at all. Given that he might be the first sitting president whose creditors foreclose on him for hundreds of millions of dollars, you'd think it'd have an adverse effect on his perceived ability to run a country, but, nope. Polls go the other way. Short of appearing naked at a debate, going "Heil Hitler" and having a dump on the floor, Trump won't make himself any more or less popular by his actions. And I think it's too tight to call. If the results come in a few percentage points of each other, King Orange Donald the First will merely try and schmooze himself in again. Because he's up sh*t creek if he doesn't. [/QUOTE]
This is how another Limey sees it from our side of the pond.
That “debate” was an utter sh*tstorm, and, frankly, I despair at the choice Americans have to make in this election.
The attitude of paying less tax is one that has been all pervasive in both countries for a number of years, and Robert confirmed it in his post. My attitude? Not just a professional one, but if you accept that public services have to be paid for from public taxation, then it is a reasonable expectation that said public, all of them, pay the correct dues, no more, no less.
My feeling on last night is that Trumpalot will not have lost votes amongst his core support, but neither will he have gained much from any swing or independent voters. If enough of them are moving towards the cadaver named Biden, then he will win. However, dismiss Trump at your peril.

Well, with both sides, all opinions are status quo. Biden has his followers no matter what, and the same with Trump.
It's all a formality until election day.

What did it actually mean when Trump told his Nazis to stand by?
That could be interpreted in different ways. It could just mean for them to get ready in a general way. Or it could mean more specifically to be ready for retaliation in case Trump is not the winner in which case Trump will have a hissy fit and need extra protection.
