^ I've never heard of Phrozenlight. Procol Harum will be in my second A-Z list.

I pick King Crimson, granted, but Mike Olfield and Rick Wakeman are not far behind.

You'll be telling me next that Piano Vibrations is Rick Wakeman's debut album.

^ Let's just suppose that I did include The Magnificent Moodies album in a prog poll. Do you really think anyone would vote for it?
![]() And besides which, The Magnificent Moodies album is a different band and a different era to the later Days of Future Passed line-up, so that settles the "discussion" once and for all.

You can't just ignore an album because nobody would vote for it. It's not really a different band as it has 3 member of the DOFP album. Ignoring it would be like doing a poll on Fleetwood Mac and ignoring everything before Buckingham/Nicks.

the discussion was settled, you re-opened it half an hour ago ![]() No, no one would vote for the Mafnificent Moodies album, not because it's bad, it's just a cute R&B album, harmless affair. |

^ The Moody Blues themselves don't count The Magnificent Moodies album when they're numbering their albums as I already mentioned to Cristi, and besides, The Magnificent Moodies 1965 album was from the Birmingham Beat era and the Days of Future Passed 1967 album marked the beginning of the Prog-Rock era. There were a lot of changes in the space of just two short years in the mid-1960's, just as there've been a lot of changes now in the last seven very long months of 2020.

accidental humor is awesome. The fact that the band tries to forget they made that album is irrelevant, it's still their debut in music, whether you like it or not. I don't know what is so hard to understand. You are annoyed by me pointing out DOTP is not a debut album, it's funny.

Well some bands have "proper" debuts and some don't. And there are those that don't give a **** I dunno about Moodies, but if it was about Pantera, I would still go with Metal Magic as debut. Even though they completely rebooted formula in 1990, 4 longplays.

I wanted to mention the Pantera story myself, but I thought i'd get too off topic. Funny the first album with Anselmo called 'Power metal" (1988) is really good. But I guess the mainstream/MTV ignored it then.

I'm not saying I dislike The Magnificent Moodies album, because I've never actually listened to it, but I do like their 1965 single: Go Now

You don't have to check them all out (at least not on a first wave). Just check out the 70's albums to begin with, and a good selection of the rockier albums afterwards (I would say, out of my mind, and not knowing them all, Phantom Power, Return to the Centre of the Earth, Out There, Retro 1 & 2, and The Red Planet... as well as the re-recordings of Journey and Arthur... and even the live at Hampton of 6 Wives). |

Now this one is difficult, with Court of the Crimson King, Tubular Bells, Days of Future Past, and 6 Wives. Yet, I go with 6 Wives for this one.
