Nice list. Went with the Beard, Izz, and Underground Railroad.

Spock's Beard, Dream Theater and Echoly are neglected? Or maybe just the poll is neglected. Wink

there were two American bands in my poll, you think American prog is discriminated or something. LOL

Dream Theater and Spock's Beard neglected?! Confused
How?

I'll listen and vote real soon. Smile
I like Dream Theater, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over Spock's Beard being "neglected" Tongue

why no love for Spock's Beard? Is it because they're not British, or because they are modern? Confused
I'm sure I'm gonna regret asking...
You're probably going to regret asking, but first of all, I didn't know Spock's Beard were American, and secondly, I saw them recently in one of the Prog Rock Dock concert series, but they didn't excite me at all. To be honest, I'd rather watch Marillion in concert. Wink

An eclectic list including some that I have really disliked and some that I really like.

Frogg Cafe, French TV (although actually not one of my preferred French TV albums), and Mirthkon for me.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Ok, maybe neglected was the wrong word. You are a tough crowd. I don't hear much discussion about any bands in this poll as much as the European bands. Wink

Well sometimes it may seem like we only discuss Henry Cow here.

I wouldn't say the forum is a Eurocentric generally as it is Anglocentric specifically, and even then it's more classic era and a short list of bands.

Curious as to which ones you really disliked, and why?

In alphabetical order: Frogg Cafe, Pat Metheny, Spock's Beard.

I enjoyed the SB albums with Ted Leonard a lot. Tongue

Spock's Beard and Dream Theater. Subsequently, I did find some Spock's Beard that I could appreciate. I'm not generally into the so called melodic rock/ melodic metal kids of music, or that which is on the AOR or arena rock side. SB can remind of certain kinds of evangelical Christian rock that I really dislike They seem to represent a branch of Americana that completely alienates me.

I don't like the vocals, attitude, style... It's just not my cup of Budweiser (and I dislike Budweiser beer). I also mostly don't like the Mars Volta or what I heard of Coheed and Cambria. Generally I am not into hard rock or metal as well, nor am I big on the symphonic prog category (I'm more of a chamber prog kind of guy).

EDIT: I should have said though that I have not heard that specific DT album and there is music off the particular SB album that I do like. When I first read this somehow I missed that there were albums to go with the act names.

Bateless Edge and Vehicle are my favourite albums that are listed.

Moo!

I was being ironic.

Not me but I haven't heard much early Enchant. I have their last few albums and most of them are rather boring to be honest. Then again maybe I haven't listened enough.

Toss up between DT and Paul Metheny.
Metheny won the toss.
Welcome to the middle of the film.
