Of course The Stranglers are not on PA.....perhaps an oversight but then it is still a good album....and one can hear the next lp Gospel According to the Men In Black on that song and the MIB track, ;)

The 1987 remix of 'Tales of Mystery & Imagination' is great; some extra guitar solos, the inclusion of the original Orson Wells spoken parts and just a clearer, cleaner sound (particularly the drums).. Fall of the house of Usher is particularly spellbinding.. Its the only APP lp that i can listen to all the way through; there is always at least one soggy ballad on all the others.

SW.. i just dont know.. i bought the lp and loved it at first and the live show was amazing but it.. i dont know.. just doesnt quite hit the spot now.. though i must admit the title track, particularly when listened to accompanied by the animated film does give me goose bumps..

I happen to differ. it is horrible; the music has been changed drastically. remixes should in my opinion NEVER alter the music. this kind of remix to me is like coming home and Friede greeting me with: "look, I have a pair of new implants"

As much as i enjoy the Raven album it’s Tales for me!

Thats a fair enough comment and of course its entirely subjective. I dont think the music has been drastically changed; mainly its been digitally remastered from original tapes plus a couple of added guitar parts by the original guitarist, some new Synth parts by AP and Eric Woolfson and the Orson Wells narration recorded during the original sessions and not used at the time.

I couldnt possibly comment on Friede's new (or existing implants..)LOL

Out of the two SWilson albums I have, I definitely prefer Raven. I voted for Tales, however, and add my approval for the remix - the added guitar solos fill up some of the original empty spots and the voice of Orson Wells is an instrument unto itself. And yes, I am cautious of remixes, but only if it is done for good reason, which is the case here.

This one is difficult... I love both of them... and both are my favourite albums from both artists (and that's including the Porcupine Tree albums too). I might give the nod to Steven Wilson because he's behind in the poll... and I got to see his tour for that album, and I found it really perfect, one of the best concerts I have been at.

I definitely didn't expect to see 'Tales' leading at any point considering the ratings here on PA, surprise is always 'round the corner!

I think I've heard both of them like once or twice. The Raven had a better first impression, so I'll vote for it.
Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)
